I really really like chocolate covered almonds and have been having a bag a day for a little while. Is this ok to do? I know its def not healthy but it is v satisfying, as long as it is within my cals?

(bout 600 cals!)

    600 cals?

I don't think it is a good idea to eat that many calories in something that isn't nutritionally rounded. Occasionally maybe, but defiantly not daily. ;) Those sure do sound good tho!

If it's within your calories then have whatever you want. This is about creating an eating pattern that will be maintainable for life and I don't believe that denying yourself things you love should be part of it, and besides, there are far worse things to eat than chocolate covered almonds! : )

Edit: You might want to lower the amount you eat to hit maybe a 200 calorie target rather than a slightly stupid (dare I say it) 600 cals...

Depends who you ask! The die hard healthy eaters will come out in a sweat at the thought. Personally, I think if you can fit it into your calories in a healthy way, as in not replacing a meal with them and still eating proper food the rest of the time then enjoy them!

Nuts are great for you and having some every day within your calorie range is fine. But 600 calories worth may well mean that you're denying your body something it needs--what's your overall calorie allowance?

My maximum is about 1900 so can afford them!!

They are just so nice. I dont eat them at the weekend, and at the most I will have them 4 days a week.

I've been on MFP on and off for more than a year now. When I used to eat things like 600cal of choc/mcdonalds/"bad" food" I definately did lose weight but it typically went like this
    Lose 8kg, gain 6kg.
    Lose 8kg. gain 6kg.
    etc.

If youwant to lose weight you can, but if your honestly planning on losing weight and keeping it off for a long time you've got to start making healthy food more important.
I agree with what people have said about eating only 200cal worth, but eventually its really got to become a special occasion kind of food.

For the last 14 weeks I've commited to actually eating good food (and I'll admit there is certainly chocolate here and there) and for the first time ever my weight loss has been at a consistant rate, and I've dropped 7kg below the lightest weight I was ever able to get down to when I just cut calories but never worried about wether or not they were "good" calories or "bad" calories.

Make sure the rest of your meals are fullof lean protein and veggies so you are getting the nutrients you need and you should be fine. However should you hit a plateau, you might want to try cutting back on them.

600 calories is around 36 nuts or 4 servings worth, so if you spread your 600 over 4 days that would be much better. or you could go for a cycle for an hour or so and have them all at once.

I eat stuff that isn't what people call healthy but I try to stay close to my calorie goal and have lost 10 pounds in about 5 weeks. If it's something you can't imagine living without then I say go ahead and have some. If the 600 calories is bothering you, maybe you could cut back to half a bag.

Thank you everybody for your advice. I shall cut back I think and just have them twice a week for a treat and thats it. Knowing that I can have them still is thumbs up xxx

Well, yeah! You can still HAVE them! It's just the portions that are in question ;)

If it fits in your macros then its fine - as long as you can be satisfied with what ever calories you have left after you enjoy!

Try having a few just to stop the craving, then drink water to get the flavor out of your mouth. I work on an ambulance and every once in awhile I'm craving something chocolatey. I have a piece of chocolate, then water and the craving is gone

If it fits your macros (carbs, fat, protein) and you can remain in your cals for the days and still get all your micro nutrients (vitamins and minerals) then you will be fine. Enjoy them.

Some say if it fits your macros you are okay, I agree to a point, but you also have to hit micro nutrients with the rest of the cals you have.

Try Blue Diamond oven roasted dark chocolate almonds - 160 cals for 1 oz (24 almonds) and they satisfy my craving and are healthy! (not as healthy as the plain almonds, I know). I have to portion them out so i don't eat the whole jar.

I routinely mix one tablespoon of mini chocolate chips(80calories) with one serving of almonds or mixed nuts(both 170 calories per serving). It's satisfying and only 250 calories--you should try that.

Im in UK so not sure Blue Diamond oven roasted dark chocolate almonds are here! Sound lovely though.

I have cut everything else out that is bad, have no other choc, cakes buscuits etc, these are my only vice!
