Caffeine question

So before I started this "I want to be healthy" lifestyle, I was drinking like two cups of coffee and 10+ glasses of dr. Pepper and tea a day. I've cut it down to like coffee once a week and maybe a glass a tea every day or so with dinner, but I'm getting such bad caffeine headaches and I'm so tired all the time. This is on top of my usual migraines. I thought about trying diet coke or something to slowly cut it backside the headaches would stop, but frankly it's disgusting. Any ideas?

I still drink my coffee every morning. As long as you're not drinking high fat/high sugar lattes coffee won't hurt you. :)
  • Mio makes a black cherry version of their water additive with caffeine added. I like to add it to sparkling water so I get the caffeine boast with the texture of soda. The caffeine headaches will go away once your body adjusts, but if you get migraines on a regular basis, a coffee and tea a day may help keep them at bay. Just keep the milk and sugar to a minimum.

Don't start the diet coke! That would be opening up a whole new set of problems.

The caffeine headaches will go away. Drink a lot of water, and wait it out. Also, check into green tea.

yep - those caffiene headaches are the worst!

Maybe try something like Pepsi Max? I haven't tasted it but friends have told me it tastes more like the real thing than the diet colas.

Hey Sara I drink coffee every day !!! at least 2 cups a day. coffee itself does not have allott of calories you just need to watch how much sugar you put in and the milk, cream or watever you like on it. I switch to maxwell light that have 0 calories per cup, overall my cup of coffee have 45 calories and I will not give up my coffee and have those horrible headaches !!! hope this helps honey =)

Caffeine withdrawals really suck! I used to go through it all the time because I was horribly inconsistent with the amount of caffeine I'd consume on a daily basis. Coffee isn't too terrible just need to cut out the sugar. I drink about 4 (12oz) cups in the morning mixed with 3tsp of French Vanilla its like 60cal/cup. Gives me the caffeine to wake up and start moving for the day. Once your caffeine intake is consistent the withdrawal symptoms should subside. Hope it gets better for you and congrats on working your way to a healthy lifestyle! :)

I would drink coffee everyday. Cutting out 10 glasses of Dr. Pepper is seriously cutting back on caffeine. Black coffee is basically calorie free. You can add milk to it to give you some dairy. That's still better than 10 glasses of Dr. P. The coffee should help with your headaches.

I drink coffee everyday! There are a lot of health benefits to drinking coffee.... in moderation that is, I have at least 1 a day. I use milk in my coffee instead of the regular cream and sugar. I'll use half a pack of sweetener too if I am craving something sweet.
  • Thank you! I've seen these natural flavor additives too that have no calories so I might try those instead of creamer. Just can't deal with the headaches and wanting to take a nap at 1030am when I just woke up at 730.
