Ohio ranks 13th on a ranking of states with the highest obesity rates.
A study released Monday by the Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation reveals that obesity in Ohio reached 29.6 percent in 2011, tying with Kansas. The top 12 states all had 30 percnt or higher obesity rates for the first time.

“Obesity has contributed to a stunning rise in chronic disease rates and health care costs,” said Jeffrey Levi, PhD, TFAH executive director. “It is one of the biggest health crises the country has ever faced.”

The report states that in 2006, obesity-related medical costs came to $147 billion a year — nearly 10 percent of total medical spending — according to a 2011 study in Health Affairs. Obesity-related diseases, such as diabetes, account for most of the spending.

Mississippi had the highest rate at 34.9 percent and Colorado ranked the lowest at 20.7 percent.

Meh. I don't care for the large group statistics, especially with stuff like this.
It's up to each individual to be healthy.

The only thing that comes to mind here is if there's some reason behind it. I know I've heard people talk about southern cooking and "soul food" etc down south. Just an example, thinking of how the culture could play a role.

You don't look obese but if one of the drivers to measure obesity was BMI then if you are muscular I can see why you will fall in that category.
