Look smaller on top half, everything else is going south!

I have been exercising daily for over a month and have lost about 16 lbs already. I was 310 from getgo. It is noticeable on top that I look slimmer from waist but it looks like to me that my hips are wider and my stomach is hanging down LOWER! Is it because the skin is getting looser or all the zumba? My husband says my rear isn't any smaller it's just tigher and higher (is that good thing?) but I feel fatter than when I started! is this normal??? I know scales don't lie but I feel like I haven't lost anything. I've gone down from 3x shirts to 1x but still same pants size. #frustrated

dont worry. You are doing the right thing. Just stay in your routine of working out and eventually your body will take shape..... Keep up the good work!! Remember, muscle weighs more than fat!! So when the scale starts to taper off or not move, remember all the muscle you built.0

we all lose in differnet places at first, I started out at 309 and am at 260 as of today:) I still feel like I have not changed that much, however the scales, the measuring tape, and everyone else can tell... Measure yourself it helps, continue to work out and stay toned to keep from having the lose skin, and drink plenty of water.. This will help! Godo luck!!0

Thanks...I know I will never be a size 6 with my body type but I wouldn't mind being 200 lbs if it was muscle and not fat0

When I first started losing I went from a 40-something waist to a 33 inch waist, and from 46 inch hips to 43 inch hips......
It took me FOREVER (not really but a lot longer) to see a difference in my butt, thighs and hips. I do a lot of Jillian Michaels DVDs and she does a lot of squats which I think has helped tone up my lower half.0 -

You ARE doing the right thing. Your lower half is RELATIVELY smaller than your shrinking top.
And yeah, you may be flabby down there because the fat that took up space is there is now empty and the muscles haven't shrunk to hold everything together. But they will - especially if you exercise.
Keep going!0 -

Best way to fight sag is serious *kitten* exercise! I bust my *kitten* daily and my stomach is flat! I weighed 280 when I started. I've lost 70 pounds and have lost zero breast, but everything else shrunk and tightened up fast! I also take glucosamine Chondroitin, use exfoliating scrubs and moisturize. These things are said to help immensely and I can say with 100% confidence that for me it did! Good luck!0 -

I wanted to add to this... the key is weight training specifically, mixed with a high protein diet and a moderate deficit.... this together will help maintain your muscle mass and fill out your skin more. You will also maintain your metabolic functions. Muscle is tight and lean.0 -
thanks everyone who replied....I am taking a BCAA supplement Catalyst from Adovocare but I am switching to a more potent amino acid one next month from GNC. It helps repair and build muscle and keeps me from getting too sore after workouts. even though I'm trying to lose weight I am trying to build muscle at the same time to keep from going from flabby to flappy, flappy being just as bad as being fat. I weight train 5 days a week and make sure to move my arms as much as possible during zumba to get rid of the huge fat deposits under my arm.0

You bet! I try to keep my macros about 35/35/30 (C/P/F) and strength train at least twice a week. My friend only did cardio and her stomach sags like a sad clown. It's astounding how different our bodies shapes up due to genetics, training and other rehabilitating measures. She did nothing, I did my research and put it into action. The fact that you posted this means you care! Good for you! I hope you find a solution that makes you happy! :-)0 -
LMAO @ "sagging like sad clown"0

I have lost more in my lower half than anywhere else, but I have walked a lot, 2.5 miles a day for quite a while. So maybe you need to target the areas by exercising them the most. Either way, you are doing great!!!0
