Insanity Workout: Very Sore Calf Muscles

Anyone else experiance sore calf muscles 1-3 days after any of the Insanity cardio workouts? Just wondering I've been stretching the daily whenever possible.

Hell yea I am sore after those workouts but more in my thighs.. everyone is slightly different in where they are sore. I did figure out though (after doing plyometrics) that you are better off getting some high performance trainers shoes as opposed to running shoes. They are a bit more designed for high impact stuff like that. It greatly helped my arch issue, although I still feel it. Once I get a chance, I will be switching from the UA high perf to the Nike ones.

I have fairly strong quads, but I definitely felt it in my calves. Also, now that I finally figured out the rhythm of the Heisman and 123, my obliques are a little sore too. Call me crazy, but I LOVE the burn!!

I can't express how much I hate the 123's... I rather do the mummy, lol.
  • Tonight I will be on Day 4 of Insanity but just 2 days ago, my calves were sooooo sore that I couldn't walk. I never call out sick (even when I'm sick) but the pain of my calves were intense. I forced myself out of bed, walked the park, but everytime I sat down to rest, the moment I stood up, the pain returned. A friend came over with a muscle pain relieving ointment called "Tiger Balm" (which can be purchased from WalMart, Walgreens, CVS, etc), massaged my calves with it, and I woke up yesterday morning feeling 1000x better (So much better that I continued Day 3 of Insanity last night). LOL!

  • I took the fit test two days in a row from the Insanity, and lets say today was the 2nd day for doing polymetric Cardio, and oh mother of lord, my calf muscles don't know which direction to walk tbh. after the first day I had to walk like daffy duck, for two days, even ibrofine failed to help. But Still I did carry one. Hope fully it will go away son, if i keep pushing. On top of that the After doing all the jumps like an orang-utan, the stretches... They kill me. But after all is done, i donno why, i kinda like that tickling.

Eating foods high in potassium and magnesium can help with some soreness, as does stretching. But modify so you don' t injure yourself.

Your calves are unconditioned hence the soreness.
