The 17 Day Diet

Gonna try it! It's a book and it is not what it sounds like. It is not some "starve yourself" fad diet, and it is acctually more than 17 days. It is a few 17 day cycles where you do something different for each one and all put together is supposed to give you great results. It was created by Dr Mike Moreno. I got the book from the library and am going to try it....

back story....I have been here over a year and lost about 65-70 lbs "doin it right" with no fake help, as I like to call pills and shakes and such. I still have not hit my goal of 150 and was looking for something to help me get motivated and such again...but still stay away from the above mentioned fake crap and fad diets. So while looking for some new exercise dvds at my library I ran across this book and it sounds like it will be fun. Basically what I am doing now but in a more structured program that is already planned out for me. I will load a picture of the overview page so you can see a little of what it's about and then let me know if you wanna try it with me!! You can check your library for it or try the Amazon link below.... They even have a work book and a cook book if you are interested. I am just trying the book for now. I need something to renew this for me cause I am so bored with it.

    According to WebMed:

Experts give thumbs-up for the food choices, overall message of clean eating, avoiding unhealthy carbs, enjoying foods that you love, and regular exercise. But thumbs-down on the weight loss theory and restriction of healthy foods like fruits and low-fat dairy.

Thanks! I will be sure to keep in mind everything i have learned along the way and apply it here as well...If something does not seem right I will tweek it to fit me, just like I have been doing for a year now. Nothing is perfect or fool proof I have learned. :)

    Hi!
I'm starting it tomorrow after a few false starts. Looking forward to seeing how it'll go. I think I'll include in a carb or two during breakfast and lunch, just cuz they keep me happier :) But overall, excited to do it! :)

Totally..it is overall mostly what I have been doing or have done at some point by myself. I think this will help my jump start again and get that last little bit off. But yea even if it needs a little tweaking here and there to suit you better it should still do some good.

I love the 17 day diet. I have the cookbook. I like that the meals are not boring. I lost 11 pounds on cycle 1 and another 10 on cycle 2. I have tweeked it a bit to include more fruits for me. Best of luck on your journey.

Oh thanks for sharing! I like to hear good stuff from people who have already tried something I wanna try. Glad it worked for you! If you don't mind..how much did you weight when you tried it? Cause I know the more you have to lose the bigger the loss when you try something like this...I am only about 10 lbs from goal so I don't think it will come off as fast...but should still come off eventually :)

I was at just under 200 pounds. I am alo breast feeding so that may have helped the weight loss. I have a friend who did this (started at around 180) and she was not breastfeeding and her results were similiar to mine. Oh, and I was exercising for 30 minutes on cycle one.
