Forcing myself to eat to meet calorie goal?

Some days I haven't been hungry but I forced myself to go closer to the calorie goal bc I heard if you eat too little it will mess up your metabolism. I've been losing on the calorie goal currently. So do you force yourself to reach your goal if you're 300 away? Or how much over or under do you think is acceptable?

I'm with you :( Its been so hot here lately (in the 100s) and i just don't have an appetite lately. I've been under most of the days this week, but I'd rather just feel comfortable than stuff myself.

if there are some lower days its okay but if you add in stuff like nuts, (a few spoons of PB will easily get you there) or avocados then you should be fine :) or maybe swap some "light" or "diet" versions of food for the full-calorie versions! for example get full fat cheese rather than reduced.

I don't usually force myself to eat if I'm under my daily goal
  • what's your calorie goal? (can't see your diary) usually, try to aim for high calorie foods. like nuts and avocados. i found myself having the same problem with just 1200 calories, but found it easier when i ate higher (healthy) calorie foods. I hope this helps in anyway.

My bmr is 1200 and my tdee is 1581 so I should eat between those two figures to loose weight. However I regularly burn over 2000calories so I will sometimes eat around 1600. However if I am not hungry I will stay at 1200 or just over but not on a regular basis. I have lost 16lbs in 6weeks and bearing in mind that I am 61 years old I think you could say it works for me.

Good luck and just experiment to find out what works for you.

I usually don't have a problem with meeting my goal, bc its a lot less than I used to eat but I am getting used to it now and finding myself less hungry some days. What about if I go over one day? Would it then be okay to go under on others? My calorie goal is 1340

If you go under on odd days I don't suppose it will matter as long it is not a regular thing. On the days you do go under you cannot possibly get all the vitamines and minerals you need so you shouldn't do it on a regular basis. Eat enough fruit, veggies and protein and the calories soon mount up. Make every mouthful count.

yes. cal intake over time is what matters. We just record in 24hrs to make it simple.

However if you're only going over by a little bit then you are most likely no where near maintenance cals (depending on MFP setup) anyway.
