Help me get motivated!

I hate exercise.
There, I said it. Pretty blasphemous as far as this site is concerned - everywhere I look people rave about how much they love it.
And don't get me wrong I envy them. I wish I could love exercise! I love the thought of it - feeling energized and being boosted into a better mood, watching the fat melt away and just being healthy. But every time I start a routine, I give up after a week or so.
I walk a mile or so to work every day and then a mile back but I rarely count it in my exercise diary because I do it every day. I'm not lazy, I really want to get going but I just hate it so much, I can't bear the thought of keeping up with it! I've tried the gym but couldn't afford to keep up the membership, so I tried fitness DVDs, running, Wii Fit - but it all just bores me after a week!
Has anybody got any advice? What do you do to keep yourself motivated? Has anyone converted from hating exercise to loving it?

What do you love to do..swim ,run ,dance ,fight lol etc. There wil be something out there for you you just need to be persistant in looking. My favoutite dvds are cher fitness hot dance.her step dvd and ministery of sound pump it up.Also I mixed a load of songs on my mp3 for a run every now and then..when exercising to your favoutite music it helps.Feel free to add me. hope this helps. dont give up it is worth it x0

You know, I do quite like dancing! I dance around while I clean sometimes. Maybe I should look for a dance DVD!
If you have any suggestions, I'd like to hear them0 -
Actually, you don't hate exercise. What you don't like is your current perception of your definition of exercise. Semantics I know, but you walk to work. That is great exercise. I lost the weight and stay there and haven't so much as broken into a sprint in quite a while. But I do walk the golf course regularly and have dozens of yard/home projects going at any given time. That's exercise. Did you know that anything that gets your heart rate to 55-75% of maximum is fabulous fat burning exercise. That includes brisk walking and many other activities. So my simple suggestion is to redefine exercise, think of it as activity. You will burn calories, have fun and get something productive done all at the same time. Enjoy yourself, have fun and good luck.0

I found ABBA You Can Dance for Wii yesterday, and ended up dancing for way over an hour, then I put the game on again in the evening for more dancing, it's like Just Dance but all ABBA songs, I bet my man had ABBA songs in his head all day, every time he came in from his garage I seemed to be dancing. I don't love exercise, took me a while to get going, though I bought a second-hand exercise bike last week and I'm using it more than I expected. I'm stunned how much my attitude to exercise has changed in only a couple of weeks.0

I hated every form of exercise I'd ever done until I started climbing recently. There's a work out for you out there someone, you just need to find the one that clicks for you. Try something new and see how you feel about it.0

Walking is the best excercise you can do & if your walking to work everyday, your doing great!0

True. Pick up the pace and you've got 30 minutes of brisk pace walking exercise a day.0 -
I also hate exercise, and like 'shelbyfrootca' says, I think it's because I haven't found something that clicks for me yet. Will just keep trying new things out till I find something.
If you like dance, how about finding a dance club or dance class in addition to the dance exercise videos? I know people who have joined hip hop dance classes and love it. The same friend also got into acrobatics - learning how to dance in silks (big long streamers that hang from the ceiling). That would be very cool (:
Or swimming? Yoga classes? Local girl's football club/group? Walking group who organize day hikes in your area? Cycling group? Volleyball on the weekends? Doing things with others might make them less boring and encourage you to stick with it. Or just try to increase the walking you're already doing - a two hour walk on the weekend could be exercise without feeling too much like exercise? Or design a longer route to work?0 -
mix it up. You do the wii until you get bored, then change to something else until you get bored. Keep rotating.0

try zumba class! they are soooo fun!0

Start small... motivate yourself but be sure it is realistic. I started out just walking and then slowly adding 1 new thing at a time. Like after about 2 weeks I added a little yoga, then aerobics, I also use workout apps on my phone or look up workout vidoes on YouTube or on FiOs On Demand. Just a thought.0
