Mixing carbs and protein?

One of my Powerplate clients said she rarely mixes carbs and protein in the same meal..what is the logic behind that? :huh:

Years ago my mom and sister followed Suzanne Somers' diet that advocates not eating carbs and fats together. I still haven't seen anything to back up the validity of claims like this. In fact, I would eat carbs with protein or fat so there wouldn't be such a spike in insulin.0

Don't worry about it. It doesn't make any difference either way. Just hit your daily goals and don't worry about timing. It matters very, very little.0 -

Yes! I always try to balance carbs with protein. any other way doesn't make sense.0 -
I think it's to do with how your body breaks food down. If you eat one or the other and don't combine the two, it gets broken down quicker. I could be wrong but think this is the mentality behind The Slimming World Diet too.0
