                    It seems that there is no end.  I lost 70 lbs and kept it off for six years, then I started to see the weight come back.  It seems the more I become aware of it, and try to do something about it, the more I put on weight.  I have just weighed in back over 200 lbs (after maintaining 175-180 for 5 years.
I am beginning to think that no one can keep weight off forever. Eventually everyone puts the weight back on.
Weight has caused me so much grief my whole life, I can't believe it is happening again.

            :flowerforyou: I am really sorry, I would be mad as hell too! I think for a lot of people that are over weight who finally get it "under control" they start to relax a little and that is bad for us. You can do it! You have done it before! It's a lift style thing now.0

            I think its good that you recognize it now and do something about it now vs waiting
 much later when you've gained even more, making that even tougher to lose.

 I know how you feel! The truth is there is, most of the time people who have ever had a weight problem will have to always be careful and diligent about maintaining. I actually went through weight gain when I got married. I had lost about 110 and then got married and started gaining weight again. I ended up gaining back close to 50 and I know it was because I started eating bad and I was slipping when it came to working out. I know now that I will always have to keep a watch on how I eat and how active I am because I can't afford to slack up. Thankfully I have been able to get that 50 pounds off and a little more, but it was so hard emotionally to know I was headed backwards. Even though it seems like a never ending battle I believe going through it all makes for a stronger person. Don't get discouraged and remember that you have done it before and now you just need to do it again and learn from your past mistakes. I know this has been kind of long but I have said those exact words before so it kind of hit home for me and I just wish you the best of luck.0

 It is not just those with a past or present weight problem that need to work on being diligent. Many of those "skinny" or "regular" weight people are just as diligent about watching thier diet. It is just that they catch the problem before they gain weight, not waiting until after. But, they are diligent just the same. I think that sometimes overweight people think that only overweight people have to watch their calories. Believe me, most skinny people do, too. I spent many years as a thin person, and I worked just as hard at it as I have to now to drop some weight.

 So, basically, most of us are in the same boat: skinny, regular, and overweight alike. We all need to watch our calories and make good choices.

            I feel the same way. I'll never be able to relax and not worry about food. I'll never be able to skip exercise and be lazy. I will always have to work for it. I am slowly starting to accept that. I guess that's what they mean whey they say, its a life style not a diet.0

            Thanks to all of the people who posted. After a few hours of sleeping, I feel better. I know that I am not going to give up. I think I suffer from a lack of will power over certain foods. Has anyone tried hypnosis?0

            How about developing the skill of will power instead? Having that skill will serve you a lifetime, and see you though many many issues as the years pass. Hynosis will just address this one problem.0

            I view will power like a muscle you have to exercise. Just like I had to start with baby steps when I first started exercising, I had to take baby steps with growing will power. I resist the chocolate cake (or whatever it is calling) as long as I can. If I give in to something, it's okay. I reached my failure point, just like you are supposed to when you strength train your muscles. Next time I'll be stronger and I'll be able to hold out a little longer. And just like you muscles, there are days when you a weak and give in a little easier. Then there are days you are stronger and you aren't even tempted by the chocolate cake at all.0
