Correct sitting posture? Help!

Hi All,

Few of us have jobs that require sitting for most part of the day. Do you know the correct sitting posture? Please share. Someone once told me that correct sitting posture could also help the abs tightening :)

Thanks.
Sanyam.

Your chair must never ever have 'arms' - that is for people who have poor upper body strength and use them for help with propping up.

The best type of chair will actually help force you into keeping balance. They now have chairs that mimic the exercise balls from a gym, providing ultimate support, proper spinal alignment all because the center of balance/gravity is now forcing you to be more aware of your body positioning.

Your knees should be at the same level as your hipbones.

Your elbows should have a slight bend in your positioning for typing and writing on paper. The height of your desk will also come into play to help reinforce that positioning.

Youtube actually has some great videos that help people to make the necessary adjustments needed to make your workspace more ergonomic.

Where I work (I actually work in healthcare), if we run into problems with our workspace, we can get free assistance from a Physical Therapist who specializes in workplace modifications... its awesome!
