Okay. Let's be honest.

How many people have consulted their physician before embarking on their fitness journey?

Fess up.

Not before starting on MFP, but years back before I started to train for my first marathon I went to the doctor, told him what I was thinking, and had a full physical to make sure I wasn't going to kill myself

Well, I took her saying "you could stand to lose a few pounds" as meaning that I can have at it. Can't wait to go for my annual in October and be like BAM! There ya go!
  • My Doctor said I couldnt do the workouts I am doing I proved them WRONG!

haven't talked to the doctor yet but I have an appointment at the end of the month. I know I'm going to hear some negativity regarding my weight but at least the doctor won't be dealing with a person in denial. :)

Nope. I'm probably due for a physical, but there doesn't seem to be anything wrong. If they could give me a cyborg knee (or two), that'd be keen, though.

My scale told me "Err2" when I would step on it, which is probably the same sound my doctor would make if I had stepped on him. So, no.

    Also, bacon.
  • Nope, didn't consult a doctor before hand. One, didn't have the insurance until a month ago. Two, why pay someone to tell me what I already know?

Yep, I did. I have hashimotos and I wanted to know that my thyroid dosage wasn't off. After getting the bloodwork back, i was confused by having normal tsh levels, I decided it wasn't my disease that was making me fat <sure it helped). It was the choices I was making. So I put the bs aside and really buckled down. Having the original doctors report was a great baseline. When I went back to get my bloodwork checked three months later the doctor was very happy with my weight loss and my tsh levels. She called me a model patient. I've never been a model anything so this gave me the incentive to just keep moving forward.
  • I started on my own but, had to have a few Dr's Appts here and there to get my Thyroid checked and other things and told them I was trying to lose weight.

I will need to go back for a check-up soon but, not in a rush. When I go back to my Endocrinologist in February tho, I want her to say "OMG!!!! GREAT JOB!!!" and hope it helps with the issues I have been having!!

I did about halfway through because I had a mini stroke. I waited for the all clear.

No, Why bother? I'm not doing anything extreme. Just eating a healthy balanced diet and getting regular exercise.

Ditto.. sad part is my Dr... is obese herself. It was hard having someone tell me I needed to loose weight and she herself is obese. Needless to say, she see my change and ask me what I'm doing...

I did. I have a complicated health history and work with a couple of docs, a trainer, and a bunch o' physical therapists.

Not me. But I was thinking of seeing a nutritionist just to see what kind of shape I was really in.

When my neurologist said I should be exercising regularly and could stand to lose some weight- I figured I had the go-ahead.
