Horse Back Riders!

So I'm just getting back into riding since stopping last November and I need some horse friends!
I'm back to taking lessons (hopefully with my old instructors, idk what i'll do if they can't handle another student :O) and were finally seriously looking at horses for sale!
Tell me something about yourself, your riding, and your horse(s)!!!
And most of all, add me! I would love to talk horses with anyone who feels like it any time of the day
Even if you just take lessons like I still do, don't hesitate to post, I could just really use some friends for motivation and support

Awesome! Good luck with your search for a horse, that's so exciting!
I have a couple of horses, one is retired, and then my other horse I mainly just ride at the weekends at the moment. He's a 24 year old Standardbred and we just hack basically, I don't compete or anything.
Feel free to add me as a friend0 -
Thats cool! I've only even ridden QHs and TBs but Standardbreds seem pretty cool!0

Come on! There aren't any other horse back riders on MFP?! I dont believe that!0

Feel free to add me. I have been riding since I was 8 years old, competing in barrel races. Although I do not get to ride as much as I would like to (being a single mom who works a lot I cant really find the time).0

I rode competitively for 10 years, my parents have since sold all their horses because I moved out and can't afford to keep any myself. I'd like to get back into riding, but switch disciplines to Western in the coming year.0

I love to ride! Im hoping to take some more lessons soon! I've been looking around locally for some at an affordable price.
There is nothing like riding! It is the best! Hope I can be riding soon too!0 -
I haven't ridden in years unfortunately, I re-homed my last rescue 5 years ago when I got pregnant and I weigh to much for most stables to let me ride. I'm so looking forward to getting to ride again!!! So, I'm not a current horse-back rider, but you're welcome to add me just the same.
I meant to add... I've ridden Quarterhorses, Friesians, Appaloosas, Pintos, Thoroughbreds, Standardbreds, etc. Including a retired racehorse I used to volunteer at a stable that gave riding lessons to mentally and physically disabled children and adults, it was the best part of my week (Saturdays and Sundays 5am to noon)0 -
I have rode off and on (when I could afford it) since high school. At one point in high school I was jumping two foot rails..but the last two times I have tried to even canter, I have fallen off because my balance (and weight) is TERRIBLE and my legs are gone. :-(
Now I seem to spend what was once my riding money on riding money for my 9 year old daughter.
She has been told any potential horse purchase down the road WILL be shared with mom....

Great! This is wonderful! Thanks to all of the people who responded! I knew I couldn't be the only over weight rider on here ;P
Anyone else want to share?0 -
I own a Trakehner mare, 17.3 hh...she is the horse in my profile photo. I need to lose weight to be competitive. We show English, show hunter, but maybe moving to cross country. Currently, she is a lot better than me. Over the past year, my legs have turned to jelly, but she continued to improve. Our next show may be with a professional rider...we'll see. I could definitely use a little motivation to work harder. My biggest problem is work...I need it to afford my horse, aka "the princess", my fashion habit, and, well, to live. But it is taking a lot of time and energy these days. I love this site!0

Anyone still here? Is there a horsey group? I have an OTTB who is 28 now - and doing ok but retired. I have a steady 7 year old paint that I love Blue boy and my new guy a bit more reactive and fun - Dakota a QH bay/gruella boy. He has very interesting color maybe even dark dun?

I look forward to hearing from you!0
