Great Overall Workout Shoe

So, I am looking for a great overall workout shoe. It has been a LONNNNNNG time since I purchased new ones.

My feet are KILLING me during my workouts in these old (at least 3 yrs old) sneakers.

I know I want something that is good for a little bit of everything...

Any suggestions would be great.

Thank You

I always end up with Aiscs. Tried Nikes, Addidas and NB's.

    Good for running, gym, weights

I have a pair of New Balance "all terrain" running shoes.

I bought them because they looked cool and were on sale. Great reasoning, I know. They've lasted a long time now, I take them running, hiking, and wear them when lifting weights. Super comfy and rugged.

    Are you running or training?

If running, head over to a running store and get fitted properly. Everyone's feet are unique, so what will work for one person will likely not work for you.

For trainers, hit up any mixed sports store and check out the cross training shoes. They should have a good, snug fit and offer a lot more lateral support than a running shoe. Your feet should feel strong and planted in them. I have a pair of Under Armour trainers and I love them.

    Good luck on your search!

I have Nike free Run. I bought off Zappos.com...So does my daughter who is 15! Very light weight and rather cheaper compared to some. They were like 67.00
  • New Balance. I swear by them. I Use 2 types: The running shoe made in USA and the New Balance Minimus Vibrams.
  • I just bought RYKA shoes. They're for running buty I have been using them for Zumba. I LOVE LOVE LVOE them.
These are what I bought after trying on Nike (my usual go-to shoe) Asics, Reebok and Sketchers. All in all I tried on 12 pairs of shoes and for me these were the best.

Depends on what you are doing. Running and weight training require different shoes.

I understand that but I was hoping for suggestion on mayve a cross trainer...or something thatwould be good for both as (like a lot of people) I am on a tight budget...

I use Altra Zero Drop. They give you the feel of barefoot -- lightweight and really roomy in the toe area -- but allow you to move freely no matter what you are doing. I use them on the treadmill, bike, in Zumba classes -- everything. They are fairly new to the market so you may have to go to their website to find a local retailer or you can order them online. If ordering online, be advised that you probably need to go one size up. When I switched to using these instead of my other shoes, I found I could move faster and more confidently on the treadmill and felt less "burdened" by my shoe. For what it's worth, I am NOT an athlete by any means -- only started working out in February of this year when I started my fitness/weight loss journey, but I do work for an exercise equipment company and have learned a thing or two through the years. Most of my co-workers really like this shoe. Here's a link to their website: http://www.altrazerodrop.com/

Good luck in your search for the perfect shoe for you! :)

My last three pairs of running/workout shoes have been Asics but Saucony and Brooks are also both very good shoes.

I however will NEVER buy another pair of Nike shoes in my opinion they are a waste of $

Probably doesn't exist. Get a $20 (or maybe less?) pair of converse all stars for weight training and then some good running shoes.

    Thx for the compliment.
