Should I wear my HRM during strength training

or just cardio activities?

    I do. Just don't expect the same kind of burn as you would from cardio.

    Heart rate and caloric burn are not directly related, so do not trust the numbers returned during strength training. Calories burned depends on VO2max, not heart rate. There is a correlation between exercise, VO2max and heart rate, but this does not mean that an increased heart rate signals an increase in VO2. If this were true, suspense and horror movies would make people extremely thin, so would roller coasters and other such rides.

    I do a HIIT cardio routine right before strength training so I already have my HRM on. Even if that were not the case, I would still wear it because I want a more accurate reading for calorie counting purposes. My numbers are usually close to double MFP's when logging strength training.
