Can anyone tell me why is it that potatoes have more calories without skin that with skin - its been puzzling me and I would to know the reasoning behind it - :ohwell:

i wil have a guess and say that if 100g potato WITH skin is 100 calories..and 100g potato WITHOUT SKIN is 120 calories....it's because the potato flesh has more calories than potato skin..so the one without skin is100G of pure flesh and the one WITH skin might be only 95g , and 5g skin.
I(f you were to take your 100 WITH skin and REMOVE the skin... you would have 95g of potato...
does that make sense?

Thanks for that yes it helps to clear it up - potatoes are so high in calories though I think my best plan is just to avoid them completely - Thanks for your reply0

Also potatoes absorb less fat from the oils used in cooking when they have their skin...0
