Dutch Oven
**No, not the one you were thinking of!!!!!!
Hey All!
I purchased a dutch over last season and i have yet to use it, Would love to put it to use this year but am unsure of what to cook in it. Is it similar to a crock pot? I'd google it, but I want all of your yummy recipes!!!
Please share - and thank you!

Hi Jenna, I LOVE my dutch oven and I use mine mostly for soups, stews etc.
I'm from Louisiana and I use it mostly for gumbo, for cooking beans, lentils, split peas, etc. I know there are a lot of recipes out there for meats that would be finished in the oven, but I use mine for stovetop slow cooking. There's nothing more satisfying than a pot goodness that has simmered for a long time at the end of a cold and wet day!! Chili would be what I probably use it for most often for my family.
1 lb 97/3 lean ground beef (or turkey if that's your preference)
2 pkg of McCormic Chili Seasoning, mild (might try one pkg first and add the second to your taste, we like highly seasoned)
1 can of Rotel Original, mild
2 cans of Hunts Diced Fire Roasted Tomatoes (the fire roasted make a big difference in taste)
1 large can of Bush's Chili Beans
1 regular sized can of tomato sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tbl brown sugar
Brown and drain your meat, add all the other ingredients and let simmer for 30 mins.
I wish I could tell you the nutritional values, but I have not taken the time to build into "My Recipes" and besides, I wouldn't know how many servings! LOL I eat about 1 cup with a salad while the rest of my family eats it over Fritos with shredded cheese and sour cream on top. It's even better the next day.0 -
