So As long as I've been doing this 'fitness thing', I still love my sweets. I've been trying to turn my goodies into healthier things and I know tons of people are here...so my question is this: When you get a craving for something sweet, what is your 'go to' item? This week, for me it's finger jello...What's yours?

I'll probably get yelled at but...I leave enough calories every day for a cookie most nights before bed.0

For me it used to be Doritos, at least before I started this. Now, there are days where I save room for 1-2 Double Stuff Oreos. I always make sure I have the room for it, and I don't go overboard.0

I feel like Shakeology has helped me cut cravings for sugar and carbs. Working in an office with cookies and sausage biscuits aplenty laying around all the time has been tough but getting easier. Im 4 weeks in now.0

Oh man, double stuff oreos and Mt. Dew was my daily breakfast in college!0 -
Your thread title threw me off. I was just gonna' say that my man thinks I'm pretty sweet, too. Never mind.0

Make sure that, if you are eating a carbohydrate rich snack, you also eat a protein rich food along with it. This helps to regulate your blood sugar. If you eat something with a lot of simple sugar in it then your blood sugar will spike. This causes your pancreas to release insulin to in order lower your blood sugar. Your blood sugar then drops drastically, so your body now sends you signals to eat. So, an hour later (or less) after eating a carbohydrate-only snack you will be hankering for something else sweet. Thus begins the snacking merry-go-round.
If, instead, you eat protein at the same time you ingest carbohydrates, the insulin release will be moderated by the protein. You will end up feeling fuller longer and you are far less likely to desire another snack (physiologically, at least). (Snacking for psychological reasons is another issue.)0 -
I like to eat lindt's extra dark chocolate truffles. One of them is 77cals and usually one is enough to kill my sweet craving.0

I won't yell at you. I can't because my mouth is too full of the Lucky Charms I'm eating right now.
Just save some calories for treats. No problem.0 -

HAHA That's okay...I read your statement quickly and saw "My man thinks you're pretty sweet too!" I was like wth?!?0 -

depends on how many sugars i have left - i try to keep refined sugars down, but i'm not worried about raw fruit/veg sugars - if i don't have many, jello sugar free pudding cup. if i have sugar left, ice cream.0

Fellow sweet-lover here. My go-to sweets are these two that have high fiber:
*Fiber One Chewy Bars (9 grams of fiber per serving). My favorite flavor is oats & peanut butter
*Vitalicious Vita muffins and Vitabrownies. These have 6-10 grams of fiber per serving, no unpronounceable ingredients, and taste like their "regular" counterparts.
The fiber slows down sugar absorption and makes you feel fuller and satisfied for at least a couple of hours. Besides, if you eat more than, say 2, there is a very unfortunate side effect (I'm sure you're wondering how I know this), which acts as a built-in disincentive to binge on them.0 -
I don't really care if I have sweets, as long as it fits in my calories. Right now I"m addicted to this Brownie Brittle I got from Costco. I do try to make healthier choices with some things and eat protein bars, make a protein brownie, or make protein pudding.0

I craved sweets until I started drinking a chocolate protein shake. It satisifies my chocolare craving now!0

For me...When paddling - dark chocolate covered almonds or espresso beans!!!
+1 On the Double Stuf Oreos0 -
Greek yogurt with a little bit of honey and some fresh fruit is so good, and it tastes like it should be bad for you.0

I love Lindt Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt...and Love Grown Foods Granola with honey and Greek Yogurt. Also made some healthy "cookies" a few weeks ago that I plan on making again.
Birthday parties and special occasions are FAIR GAME. I downright refuse to not have the cake.0
