the land before 1982 = no smiley face?

just the idea of a smiley, or a yellow with black detail smiley?

I'm just finding it really hard to believe that a smiley face hadn't been used prior to that.

The smiley face was invented and Designed by Harvey Ball. How do I know this? My daughter dated his grandson in grammar school.

ah ok. the Harvey Ball search showed up early 60s smiley faces. that makes me feel much better. my time continuum is back in order again.

perhaps this birthday represents a computerized smiley? i don't think 80s computers had emoticons
  • Yeah, that is what I was referring to, the computerized smiley.

But I am not claiming to be an expert on the subject. Just happen to see a story on my local news
