The tradmill I use says I burn about 10 calories a minute. I was wondering if anyone knows how how accurate this is? I'm a 22 year old 5'6 110 lb female.. Depending on the accuracy ((I entered my weight and age in the machine)) I burnt 1,000 calories today!! And really want a burger and fries if this is true lol.

  • Haha as awesome as that sounds, cardio machines are notorous for being inaccurate in the calorie count. If I were you, I would invest in a heart rate monitor that shows your calories burned. They are much more accurate than the treadmill because it is specific to your body! Good luck!

    It's an estimate.
MFP will give you another estimate.
A heart rate monitor (HRM) will give you yet another estimate.

Pick one set of numbers (I'd use the one that has most info abut you specifically, probably an HRM) and eat according to those for a month then see how your body responds.

Thanks.. I know they are known for being inaccurate so I just count whatever it is down.. Like if it says I burnt 330, I count it as 300
  • My bodybugg regularly comes in at about 150 less than what the treadmill says on my "800 calorie" workout. I take the 650 that my bodybugg gives me but use the 800 on the treadmill for a mental "way to go."
