Hey Luke
Are you buying pre packaged food. If so that can be very expensive. You are better off going to a grocery store and buying food that you can cook such as fresh fruits and vegetables as well as meat. In Pittsburgh we have Aldi and Wal-Mart and their prices are alot cheaper than your average grocery store. Hydroxycut has to be expensive as well. How much exercise do you do. Maybe you need to add more cardio. Muscle weighs more than fat so maybe you are gaining muscle. I am not sure how the eating and exercise things go some people say you should eat more when you exercise other say you should not. Good luck to you I am sure everything will work out.0 -

Increase your intensity and length accordingly maybe every week or even 2 weeks running is just like lifting weights in the sense you don't go in there your first day and deadlift 1000lbs you start off at a certain level and increase weights periodically.
Here is a website for great info and preperations for the military I personally used Stew's pre boot camp preperation before I enlisted.

Hey Luke,
i agree with Vada44, go for the fresh items, at low cost stores like Wal-Mart. Packaged food also has a lot of sodium, which will make you retain water. As far as your running, go fr time right now, not distance. That is, jog, 30 minutes for example rather than thinking 3 miles. You'll build up to that when your endurance/stamina improves. I am a former runner, and am just now starting to get back into it with short sprints incorporated into my daily walks. When you join the military (which I greatly respect, and applaud you), you will have to go the 3 miles, but you'll be ready for it if you build up slowly. The other thing is, vada is right about the Hyydroxycut - it's expensive! Go for the food, and skip the Hydroxy. You'll feel better too. Best of luck!

Ditch the hydroxycut and save the money. Try going to a wholesale (Costco, BJ's. Sam's) and buy in bulk. Chicken can go a long way and is usually cheaper if you buy it whole. Peanut butter, dry beans, oats, rice and pasta will go a long way for a cheap price. Frozen veggies are good. Also look for farmer's markets in the area, they may be cheaper. Eggs and tuna are also cheap protein.0

You can get a program called couch to 5K. They have an app for android and iphone, its free. It will help you slowly increase your endurance to get you running 5K in 9 weeks. Since your already running 1.6 miles I would imagine you could progress through several weeks. Good luck!0

Chicken! You can buy a bag at of boneless skinless breasts at Wal-mart for $6.98. Brown rice, it's like $1 a bag. The possibilities are endless with it...you can season it asian, you can do a southwestern type dish, you can do italian seasonings, you can use curry, lots of choices! If you think about it, that's about $8 a week, there's about 5 weeks in a month, so your minimum food cost is about $40, leaving you $10 to buy seasonings, or healthy breakfast stuff like eggs. And when I first got into running, I used the C25K method. You can google it.0

I buy rice and add different meats to them, my son loves beef and rice and then I add a gravy packet with it. Find an Aldi's or place similar to that where the prices are cheaper. You can also ask about food banks in your area. I also buy peanut butter, soups. I pan sear a lot of meat with only pan spray. By a lot of frozen vege's and just add them to your meal. The other day I pan seared some chicken breast, added some frozen broccoli and other vege's, added some stir fry mix and put that over rice. It was a good meal. I also by onions, peppers, etc...make a big batch of sauteing them and that way all I have to do is add them to whatever I'm cooking.
I have lowered my calories on here and that is helping me better plus working out. Congrats on making a better life for yourself. I know it can be hard, especially if you may not have a support system. Some people don't want you to change but if you want to change...then it will slowly happen. You may want to go to the library or look on the internet for recipes that is diet friendly but don't have a lot of ingredients.
I don't buy a lot of diet foods. If I do, it's protein meal bars or snacks. But for me it's all about making foods better with what I have, drinking a lot of water, eating more fruits and vege's.. I'm sending you a friend request, would love to be added to be a support to you.0 -
