    I don't really care...
  • Any other opinions?

Do another exercise until someone else wipes it down and picks up any left over drops, well only if I see pooling sweat...
    Otherwise meh.
  • If it's a machine I'm about to use I just wipe it down myself. I definitely wouldn't say anything to someone! And it just seems petty to tell management.

Some people are rude, but honestly I just think some people don't even think about wiping it down.

None of the above. I think its disgusting and inconsiderate but small compared to other things going on in life. I just make sure to wipe down each machine before and after each use. Problem solved and really just an extra 3-5 seconds. No big deal, IMO.

I don't care unless they look sick or there is a visible puddle of sweat. I typically do the circuit when it's very slow at planet fitness.
and when I'm done thoroughly sanitize my hands and forearms. I get sick too easily so I don't like to be around a lot of people.

**I do wipe it down when I'm done.

Honestly, I don't wipe down machines and I don't care if other people do. All of the people who do care do it themselves because that's the only way to guarantee it's been done. Granted I don't use machines much and I do lay on a towel when I bench

I just wipe it down myself. I think it's gross when people don't though.

I'm more likely to wipe some else's piss off a toilet i want to use than to wipe their sweat off a machine i want to use. lol
  • It's inconsiderate when people don't wipe them down but compared to some other things that go on in a gym it's no big deal. Just wipe it before and after like all the signs around say. I shower anyway....no one stays clean at a gym.

I personally wipe the machine(s) down before AND after I use them.

I was asked by a female gym member why I wipe it before I use it... I asked her if she could handle a blunt reply.. she said absolutely..

So.. I told her "because there are too many f'ing slobs here who think its ok to leave their mess and too damn lazy to clean up after theirselves".. I said it loudly and I didnt care.

She shook my hand and wholeheartedly agreed with me.

I generally carry a wipe around with me and wipe down any cardio machine or bench after I use it, because I get very sweaty.

If there was visible sweat on a machine or bench before I used it, I would wipe it down as well.

Otherwise, I don't care. I'm definitely not a germaphobe, nor am I easily icked out. I've worked in hospitals for the past 16 years and have been exposed to everything -- my immune system could kick Chuck Norris' *kitten*.

It grosses me out, but I don't worry about it. I just clean it off myself when I'm about to use the machine.

what Morgan Freeman said. I sometimes wipe it before i use it even though I have on arthritis gloves. There are no signs to wipe them down where I go, but really I dont care, there are so many germs everywhere, it just isn't worth telling management or being pissed at anyone. When I've finished I go and wash my gloves and my hands and I'm outta there.

This is why I take a towel with me and place towel between myself and sweaty bench.

don't care. I've been going to gyms for over 30 years. Wiping down machines is a new thing. I can see wiping off your sweat but this silliness of acting like you have to disinfect every thing you brush against is dumb.

    Couldn't care less.

I'm usually on the dreadmill, so it doesn't really matter. And weights are kind of a hassle to clean.

i just pay some kid a few bucks to follow me around during my session and wipe off the equipment before i use it. He doesn't have to wipe it when I'm done though. I can't afford that.
  • I don't care...it doesn't hurt me to wipe it down myself if it's really that important to me...and overall the people at my gym are very good about wiping them down when they're done. Plus, I don't have a huge expectation of gyms being very clean, so I always shower when I get home ;-)

    This^^
  • I wipe all machines down myself anyway, just to make sure. Never can be too careful! :)

It's gross but whatever. I do wipe down the handles and screen of the step mill but not the bottom where I pool sweat. I don't see the need.

For me, I don't really care all that much. And it kind of depends on the person that used it. If they have obviously not bathed in a while or just really stink or something, I might wipe it down myself, but in general I don't really care. Plus, the gym I go to is really good about "rounding" with disinfectant and wash clothes, so they get cleaned fairly often anyway.
