MFP doesn't need to be like Facebook but...

I really wish we had a "like" button. I want all y'all to know how much I love some of your comments and achievements and sometimes I'm just too lazy to make a comment. lol. Perhaps if commenting burned more calories, I would do it more consistently. :P

Like buttons are nice but lazy. It doesn't hurt anyone to say two or three or four words to someone. It may mean a lot to them. If you have too many friends to be supportive, perhaps you should cut your friend list down. This isn't Facebook. It's a group with a common goal or goals who are here (or should be here) to support each other and offer ideas and thoughts and share experiences.
  • poking a Like or high 5 button is the lazy way to do something, IMO....... takes 5 seconds to post a reply and means MUCH more than a gazillion random likes

Yeah, facebook carries a lot of baggage with it. Think of it as having fitocracy.com "props" instead. (Same idea, but different.)
  • Typing is done through motion, thus is a calorie burning activity. Ever notice the people with thousands of posts are the ones almost at their goal...just saying, lol.

MFP is better than facebook. MFP has less kids on it. It's more for the grown and sexy!

According to the rules, it should have *no* kids on it...

(...but I had a facebook account when it was still restricted to college kids (and I had been out of college for a few years at that point), so shhhhh.)

Sure they can add a "like" button but I want a "dislike" button to go with it.

The more friends a person has here, the better the support each of us have. I have asked tech support about a "like" button before. Yes, I DO type a few words or icon when I can, but that can also be used with a "like" It isn't being lazy - it's being useful. A friend can see the like as well as words. If you don't like the idea of a like button, don't use then if we get it. Maybe the majority of us would like it.

I barely use Facebook at all.. I like that there's no "like" button here because on FB I'll have 8 "likes" and no input.. Where as on MFP, people that care to read anything will actually say something.

I can only speak for myself but that's not quite true for me. It's true that I will bother to tell them that I like it now that there's no other option but when I have nothing more to add but that, I don't see the difference between writing it and clicking it.

I do think this place needs a notification thingy. So I don’t have to hunt down what a person say or find the comment days later because I didn’t know.
