    Hello! :flowerforyou:
    - Log your foods before you eat them to make sure you are eating all of your calorie for that day
    - Drink your 64 oz of water a day
    - Move as much as possible - if you don't have an exercise program not to worry you will lose anyway. Just playing with your young ones counts... so enjoy!
    - Weigh yourself (and take your measurements) for your Check In weekly (even if you don't lose on the scale your body may be shifting inches around)
    - Last but not least - don't think of joining MFP as a diet but a life change and you need to concentrate on enjoying life!

Good Luck on your journey!!!
  • Hello, I just joined today. I feel like a yo-yo when it comes to my weight. I am going to take things one day at a time. Keep track of calories so I can see what I am eating everyday and make adjustments as needed. It's a long road ahead and I am looking for the rainbow at the end.

    Hi mixiblob-

Welcome - I'm new to the site also. Started yesterday. So far, I have found that logging all the food in the food diary is going to be a big help for me. I had no idea how many calories I was eating until I started logging them. I was shocked at how much I was over-eating. I've always heard it helps to keep a food diary, but I never believed it until now. So far, I have just logged the food, but starting tomorrow I will be logging my exercise as well.

Take it one step at a time and you will achieve your goals. Good Luck and God Bless.

  • Hi,

In my opinion the most important thing you need to do is decide that this is the time for change. You know the old saying, "you can't keep doing the same thing and expect the results to be different." Something like that anyway?? You need to really decide that this is the time in your life that you are ready to make some life long changes. That can be overwhelming, so you need to approach it in small doses. Start with one or two things that you think you could do. Maybe that is changing from white bread to wheat? Or cutting out sweets? Or drinking more water? Or being more active? Maybe just the addition of a small walk everyday? If you try to take on too much, you will quickly become overwhelmed and it will be hard to stick to it. But if you make one or two small changes, once you see those changes as "easy," it will be much easier to add another change to your life. I have recently lost about 25 pounds, and I started really slow, I always maintained a positive outlook and it has really worked. I feel great about the progress I have made and the noticable changes in how I look and how my clothes feels. I would love to help you meet your goals!
