The white lace nightgown - NSV

I have a white lace nightgown. I bought it about 17 years ago, it was an impulse buy that I couldn't really afford when I was in university. I saw it in the window of a shop and said to myself I MUST have that. I knew that it was going to be the nightgown I would wear on my honeymoon. Nevermind that I didn't have a boyfriend or even a twinkle in my eye of when that would ever happen. After all I was in university and concentrating on school, parties and well more school.
But I bought it, cleaned out my whole week budget to pick it up. It's an ankle length lace very see through gown, with shoulder straps, deep vee bodice and a slit up to the woo woo on the left side. I LOVED it...and I picked it up in a Large because I fit a Large at the time.
Over the years, it's hung in my closet, never once used nor worn. It's become yellow with age, it's become weary with a life path that has never justified it's use and when I put on the weight and started thinking about taking the weight off, it was the bench marker for when I would be "happy" with myself.
With the move and the busy summer and all the running around I've been doing since May, I've completely forgotten about this gown. Today I saw it hanging in my back closet and I thought to myself....I wonder....
So I tried it on....I'm wearing it as I type and it's TOO big. It's never going to be that pristine white lace, fitted gown again. So once I dance around the room in it just for old times sake, I'm going to take it off...throw it out....and find another goal, another delicious frock to focus myself upon. I'm no longer the girl that dreams about weddings and princes and perfect honeymoons. I'm something much more....
so now the question is:
Do I find another sweet frock? or something sinfully delicious...
You tell me.....

lingerie, purses and shoes....

How about some hot little black dress, with stockings (the kind with the seam up the back) and a garter belt. Of course a sexy bra. That way you can wear the getup out in public, and still get the lingerie to wear underneath. I don't know about you, but I feel pretty sexy being out and about, dressed up with a sweet getup underneath...0

The white lace nightgown is not the same as it once was, and you are not the same as you once were. The difference? You just keep getting better! Congrats on the NSV. Try not to have too many pre-conceived notions about the new frock; just like the first one, when you see it you will know it was meant to be yours.0

Congratulations on a job well done! What a great feeling! And TOO BIG!!?!! Life just doesn't get better
I had to laugh when I read your story because I had a similiar experience yesterday. I was getting out my winter clothes from last year and thinking I'd better try them on because ... well, just because. So I did & had about 3 bags full of stuff to donate. As I was getting to the back of the closet I was looking @ the fancy dresses, Christmas velvet jackets etc all wrapped up and thought 'what is all the stuff?' I haven't looked at it for 15 years, just keep pushing it back. Anyway, I dragged it all out ... and in the middle of it all was a white leopard-print jumpsuit that I wore for my wedding dinner 23 years ago. Hmmm ...
And it fit!!! It's a miracle! I can't say it's too big, it just fits. I'm SURE shoulder pads are in now, right?? I'm sure I saw JLo in one just the other day! Who EVER thought I'd fit into that thing again!?! Not me! I'm going to scan my old picture in it and post one beside it, just for myself. I'm not one of those "gotta fit into my grad dress" kind of people ... But now I get it. It means something. Silly, but it's important
Congratulations on your success! Whatever you decide to purchase, I hope it brings you as much enjoyment I loved your story!
