??? I've recently fallen in love with swimming. Should I be running instead for faster results?

I would have to say if it gets you out to the gym and you enjoy it, it has to be good for you. Also it is less impact on your body so you should be able to do it longer in life.

I try to swim once a week to throw in some variety into my workouts. My kids are on the swimteam and we take them on the weekends and swim laps. At this point I can keep up with them swimming laps but they can swim more laps then me.

Do what you enjoy but do something:smile:

im going to go with the latter hon. I love to swim, and it works the whole body, core and all. It is great for the lungs and heart, and you dont even get hot or feel yourself sweat!! LOVE IT

It's not as impactive as running unless you really work like your running

A few awesome things about swimming, though, are your muscles are less likely to be sore, you joints won't hate you, and your whole body is involved. (I personally feel like I've done something if I have sweat dripping off of my forehead, but not everyone agrees!)

    Keep at it!

If you'd like to do both and you need encouragement to run....how about go for a small run and then reward yourself with a swim? That way you are mixing up your exercise which is good for you.

I have read that swimming is good. In some study it stated to watch what you eat after because swimming tends stir up an appetite.
