Ever since I can remember, I have had to go way more frequently than I would like to. Every 1.5-2 hours at least...
When going on long car trips and in class it does get to be an issue..
Does anyone know of any ways to strengthen the bladder?

I have stress incontinence, like you do and use
http://www.athenaft.com/
its not a sure fix, you have to use it regularly, but it works very well and you will notice a huge diffference after a week or so.
After seeing a consultant for mine, i am told that an operation to fix this can only be perfoormed once in your lifetime properly, and was advised to use a pelvic toner until i am in my 50's or 60's......
Good luck!0 -
i have the same issue. kegels are good, but a doctor can treat this at any age - i haven't been to mine but i've seen it on adverts here in the UK
Other than that i've just had to be careful about when i drink0 -
Don't really know how to strengthen a bladder, but just wanted to pop in and say you're not the only one who goes that much. :c Every time I tried to get help for it the doctor didn't seem to understand how someone so young had this problem, and would always start going into how to keep incontinence at bay. Uhhh, losing pee randomly wasn't my problem, my problem is that my bladder is the size of a peanut and I have to go every 5 seconds. LOL
Anyway, though this seems really backwards, ever since I started drinking more water (both in general and rather than soda or tea, etc.), I find I don't have to go as often as I used to. I drink a whole bottle of water and find myself wondering why I'm not feeling the urge to run to the bathroom. I drink a whole bottle of iced tea and find myself running away every ten minutes. Haha. It also helps if you don't drink on an empty stomach. Maybe the food absorbs the water or something. Definitely works for me.
Ever since I started tracking water I also realized I drank a loooot more than I initially thought.
I strongly suspect losing weight may help (less pressure on the bladder and all), but I have yet to find out if that theory is true. XD0 -
any tips on how to hold it in whilst going on a long car trip?0

As said by Starla - pelvis floor exercises will strengthen you so that you are able to hold it in longer. Loads on youtube. They're easy to do, as no-one can see what you're doing0

Not for holding it, but bring plenty of empty gatorade bottles :P0 -

I have to go every hr, everyone in the car gets so annoyed with me:) I have an over active bladder like you and it does suck. Like a previous poster said though, the more water I drink and less pop, teas etc, the less I go0 -
I have that. Eliminating caffine will help. Otherwise you can ask your doctor for a prescription. There's one called Sanctura that you take only 1 time a day and does wonders. There is another one out there (don't remember name) but it made me so dang thirsty that whatever benefit I got from it was un done by the amount of water I was drinking to over come the thirstiness.0

I agree that pelvic floor exercises will help.
When I started to drink more water, I noticed the problem too - even though I had been losing weight.
My doctor suggested drinking less water (as she said that other patients had been to a specialist, and that is what had been advised to help with the problem). i.e. don't feel obliged to drink the full eight glasses (or more) each day.
Now I am not a doctor, and I am not recommending this to other people - I am just repeating what I have been told - that is continue to drink water so that you stay hydrated - just consider not having the entire eight glasses (or more).0 -
