do kettle bells work?

I bought some today and i was going to do 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes at night, but i was wondering if they're any good and if anyone has seen any real results using them?

I recommend http://livefitrevolution.org/ for some free videos or looking into The Swing by Tracy Reifkind. I have seen good results from friends using one or both of these.0 -
Yes, it's a good idea to follow a program, at least to start. They really do work, especially in building up your entire range of muscles that you use for everyday activities and sports. You won't just be working one or two muscles and getting "gym strong" while not having strength to apply to everyday activities. Good luck!0

I go to a 45 minute workout at my gym that uses a kettlebell. She allows us to do half counts to get one count and by the time we are done most people can barely alk down the stairs. Very good for legs, arms, abs, everything. I would suggest going to a class or following a program to get you started with the right moves. Do as much as you can it's your workout. I first tried doing it as fast as the instructor but then I was sore for days afterwards.
I also use a 10lb kettlebell. What size did you buy?0 -
if they are heavy enough then they should be helpful. i think 10 pounds is probably the lowest anyone should since the movements you do with KBs are compounds. but for real anyone in reasonable amount of health should be able to start with 20 pounds.
with anything weighted, for weight loss and fat loss it's better to do less reps of a higher weight than more reps of a lower weight0 -

Losing fat just requires a calorie deficit. You can get that with diet alone or a mix of diet and any activity that burns calories. It may build a bit of muscle, but eventually it will not be enough weight. To give you an idea, in her first week in the gym my wife was barbell squatting 75lbs, bench pressing 65lbs, deadlifting 115lbs, barbell rowing 65lbs, and overhead pressing 45 lbs. She has increased them all in the 6 weeks she has been at it. So one 20 lb kettle bell may not get you all that far.0
