Do you burn more calories with a cold.... help pls

Can anybody help me, i have had a cold for a couple of days now, I managed to do my insanity workout yesterday (very hard by the way) and luckily today is my rest day, and i am happy that it is as i am feeling awful.

I ate my breakfast this morning even though i didnt really want it and i also had my lunch but I havent really been that hungry i ate because i wanted to give my body the energy.

However i fell asleep for an hour and woke up starving so i have had my dinner and i still feel like i need more food and i want to know whether that is because i am ill and am burning more calories, im on a 1200 cal diet and i have about 75cals left today. I dont want to eat over if i shouldn't but with this being my rest day i dont have extra cals from exercise.

please help i dont really know what to do.

    You are sick. Eat healthy foods and rest. You're not going to gain weight if you go over your 1200 for a day or two while your body is healing.

    Thanks for your reply I feel more guilty about going over as I have only been doing for a week to budge the last stubborn lbs i have to lose so annoying.

    I'm in the same boat. Been sick a few days now but barely able to do any exercise. If only I could lose weight every time I blew my nose I would be stick skinny by now :laugh: :laugh: :laugh: :laugh: Don't sweat it if you can't do a full work out. Your body needs to recover. If I feel up to it I'll do a few minutes of crunches or take the dog for a short walk but I'm not going to push myself and make things worse than they already are. Before you know it you'll feel better and get back to your work out. S*** happens. Hope you feel better soon. For now just refer to me as Rudolph.

    You need to chillax. First, when you are sick, rest. Doing Insanity with a cold is. . . insane? :laugh:

    Push fluids, chicken soup, etc. Juice. Things to help you heal, not exercise, which will keep you run down. It takes a lot for your body to fight the virus.

    When you are through with the cold, you are going to be hungrier. Nourish your body in recovery. 1200 cals is WAY too low at your weight. I hope you are at least eating another 400-500 for the exercise.

    Thanks for the reply, I know i felt insane for doing insanity yesterday but it is my rest day today so no exercise. but according to this site my cal intake is 1200 to lose the weight i want to so im not sure how it is to low. I weight 154lb and am 5ft5.5inches. when i exercise I do it at night when my baby goes to bed so only eat around half of those calories back. In general I absolutely hate calorie counting but it is the only thing I havent tried and I have been trying to budge this last 7 - 10lbs for a while now.

    This cold has knocked me for six just hope im up to exercising tomorrow its the start of week 4 of insanity for me :).

    This site is a dumb tool. If you tell it you want to lose XX amount of weight per week, it will help you do it, as much as possible. Did you read the link?

    You are trying to lose weight too fast. Garbage in-garbage out.

    With less than ten pounds to lose, you are already at a healthy weight according to your body, which wants a little padding for the lean times.

    You can't force-lose weight. You need to do it in a way that meshes with human biology. No wonder you got sick, you are under-feeding.

    Sorry, just thought I should mention something.
    In the guide that comes with insanity it states that you should neve r eat under 1300 calories. This site is good for tracking calories but very little else as it cos based on basic bmr, to work out your calorie need you should use the formula in the nutrition guide. You have to put in enough fuel otherwise you will damage yourself and make yourself sickly. Not to mention starving
