I have diabetes and have reduced my carb intake to manage it. Has anyone had success dieting with diabetes?

I am new to both the site and to diabetes. I was diagnose on Aug 22 and just watching what I eat and minimal exercise I've lost 11lbs and I'm here at this site to continue on the right path. Please add me as a friend and we as diabetics can get through this.

I have been diabetic for 7 years, type II controlled by medication and now diet, after losing 25 lbs decreased my medication in half . Hopefully my diet will be able to control my sugars in the very near future, now just to get off my hypertension meds as well and I will be a happy camper. You are more than welcome to add me as a friend along this journey. Kimi
  • I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes 18 months ago. Started taking oral medication, began counting carbs (which reduced my calorie intake), & the weight starting coming off. I am very dedicated to portion control by weighing or measuring everything I can. In January I added exercise about 4 times a week. I have lost a total of 67 pounds to date. My medication was reduced throughout this time period. At my last doctor visit 3 weeks ago, he took me off the medication on a trial basis. I have to monitor my blood sugar levels & if it increases then I start taking the medication again. However, if it stays down for the next 3 months & my A1C test is 6.5 or less I will remain medication free. It will be great to control my diabetes with diet & exercise only. I have just started myfitnesspal as another tool to help me lose my final 33 pounds. Good luck on your journey!!!
