Protein Alert!

Relax, nothing's been recalled from the grocery store........and yes, protein is still good for you, always has been, and always will be good for you, but as far as proper intake of it? Peep this.....
Our bodies are actually not ready to digest any kind of meat the moment we're born. This is something we develop in time. Now I'm sure many of you are aware of how most meat products are processed. With nasty crap. Added hormones? We already have a great deal of hormones lol. We don't need added hormones, and women "definitely" do not need them lol. Red meat has been linked to many weight issues, high cholesterol, high sodium, it's all just a big crazy mess. You have the risk of Mad Cow disease, poor preparation at grocery stores and what not. Here's the good news
Since most meat contains a good amount of proteins that our bodies need, cutting down on red meat intake would not strip your body of this necessary nutrient. Soybeans are almost the be all and end all in the food community. Soy Sauce is made with it, Tofu is made with it, and meat substitution are made with it, but you would never be able to tell that these meat substitutions are "fake meat". Once you bite into a "Morning Star" product, you won't be able to tell what on earth is going on lol. It doesn't taste fake, it's even got a quality that supercedes regular meat. Don't know what I mean? If you live in the United States, try the Black Bean Burger at Chili's. Then tell me it doesn't taste better than a regular burger. Do you like ribs? Buy Morning Star's "Riblets" and tell me they don't taste like heaven. Do you like Chicken Nuggets? Yes you do, everyone does lol. Try Morning Star's box of Soy Nuggets, and tell me they taste terrible. The best thing about all these soy products, is that is contains twice the amount of necessary protein you need than you're regular disgustingly processed meat. Now, I do have to say, that back in the day, meat wasn't processed so poorly, and I would have loved to actually taste a steak back then. But since we live in these days now, meat processing is totally different. A lot of nasty additives. So if you really are looking for a better diet, try substituting regular meat for Soy products. I guarantee you will see a difference in your body within at least a week.. It's amazing how cutting out real meat can actually do that stuff.

Even too much soy is bad for you.
Look up phytoestrogens - you think added hormones are bad? Think about plant based "hormones" that can cause men to have various issues in higher doses (and I don't mean overdose levels - 3 quarts of soy milk a day is enough to cause issues, and that's just the liquified version).

Soy commercial?
Go say hi to your local butcher, less chance of all this "contamination" talk.0 -
Thanks, but I'll stick with my chicken, fish, and red meat. You can have all that soy nonsense.0

Atleast someone understands that because I grew up vegan and now vegetarian I cannot process meat protein AT ALL. (horrible stomache problems, not proper enzymes, etc.)
Although, Correct me if im wrong.... too much soy can raise levels of estrogen? Isn't it's BVI also much much lower than say a whey protein?0 -
With all due respect, I tried to go meat-free by switching to all Morning Star faux-meat products (not a fan of Boca) and yes I could taste the difference and the texture was different as well. In fact, the only Morning Star meatless products I actually liked in the least were the Garden Veggie 'burgers' and the 'ribs', the rest were so nasty I gave away what I could and tossed the rest. I get what you're trying to say but IMO there really, truly IS a difference and it's not subtle.0

I eat lots of protein and almost never eat red meat due to the cost. Ground chicken or turkey is way more economical than hamburger (and healthier!).
Edited to add: FYI the morning star farms Nuggets are 600 mg of sodium for 4 nuggets. In order for me to get my day's worth of protein from that source alone, the sodium consumed would be 4980 mg. That is almost double the healthy recommended maximum for sodium consumption.
Fake meat should be used as a treat or as an occasional supplement to natural foods and protein sources. The sodium alone will cause premature death due to over consumption of sodium.0 -

Oh look another eat this not that post.
I LOVE red meat and will never give up a great steak. Yes it may work for you but it won't for me and many like me, it's nice you are passionate about this but this is just a repeat of many similar preachy posts. Sorry.

I prefer the other pink meat...0

Red meat puts me in so much pain! I can digest soy way better, though sometimes I eat red meat for boyfriend/family but it honeslty kills me. Yes too much soy is bad but a little s harmless I think. and theres alternatives, as in beans lentils etc...0

You want non-processed meats? Get 'em directly from your local farm. I live in a major metropolitan area, and I have the choice of 3 farms selling grass fed/pastured meats within an hour's drive.0 -
What an odd post! You are saying don't eat red meat because it's too processed, instead eat other meat or processed soy products???
I have nothing against soy. I drink soy milk daily, eat edamame and soy sauce frequently and occasionally tofu (less often since I got married). But I doubt the overly processed store bought "soy meat" products are any better than other premade foods. And what makes other meats less processed than red meats?
While I do think there is sufficient evidence to warrant limiting red meat, I think it would be best to substitute lean white meats, wild caught fish or less processed soy or bean products.0 -
Well the meat at my local butcher's shop is slaughtered on the premises so I think I'll stick with that.
Thanks for the tip-off though.0
