Does anyone use Optimum Nutrition Essential Amino Energy or Scivation Xtend? Or opinions on others. I am looking for something to help with muscle recovery after intense workouts.

Thanks!

  • I use Results and Recovery Drink from beachbody. I love it. Can tell the difference when I don't take it.
  • I posted a similar topic on FRS. It's good, and has very low calories but tastes "chemical-y." I'm interested in the responses here.

I drink a protein shake. Low carb, high protein, and I mix it with water.

Those are intra-workout supplements they are meant to be taken during workout not post. You can't go wrong with ON Gold Standard as a post workout shake.

I use EAS vanilla whey protein powder mixed with unsweetened almond milk. Great shot of calcium and protein.

I don't use any muscle recover drinks. I don't even use protein powders much. I work out fasted in the morning, skip breakfast, and workout hard, and wait an hour to eat. Then I just eat real food. We all have to do what works for us, I'm small and I find all that extra protein will make me fat. It probably works well for bigger people and guys who can build bigger muscles.
  • I use GNC Pro Amp 60 and love it. I really can tell if I don't drink it after a workout. It's a little pricey but well worth it. I only take 1 scoop after a workout and the 2# container lasts me about a month.

Just slam a shake with some protein and carbs.........

    or eat protein and carbs.

xtend and the amino drink are intended as intra-workout supplements though. not recovery/postworkout.

The guy I workout with uses Extend during his workout and likes it. He has tried others but always come back to Extend
  • Thanks for the replies and advice. I do use ON Whey after work outs and throughout the day as well.
