Needed: Ladies who Lift!

Hi Ladies!
Okay, so I have been on the message boards for a while (mainly reading) and I have saw a lot of women posting about lifting.
Also, I have saw many users say that lifting helps reduce belly fat (which is my main problem area).
I'm really interested in learning more and perhaps starting to lift myself.
Any hints or tips you could give me? Where to start off etc. I have been using weights for a while but mainly during interval training. By lifting do you mean, proper heavy weight lifting?
Share some experiences too, hoping to get as much info as I can!
Thanks!

Check out these groups, right here on mfp:
1. New Rules of Lifting 4 Women
2. Women Strength-Training
You'll find TONS of information in these groups!
Good luck, and welcome to the lifting (heavy) world!0 -
I agree with the above posts. Also, check out the link below on body weight exercises. Body weight exercises are great for someone new to strength training.

I've been doing weights for a few months and though my shape has improved I have yet to lose fat from my belly which is my biggest problem area. Shifting fat is due to diet not lifting weights.0

Thanks for all the links and info0

I'm in the last stage of New Rules of Lifting For Women. I learned a lot. It's definitely a beginner's program.
Also look into Starting Strength, Stonglifts, and 5/3/1. All of these programs are excellent and it doesn't matter whether you're male or female.0 -
