BMR?

My fitness pal tells me it's 1,407 calories.
A different website I googled had me thinking 2,015.
Anyway--I'm a little clueless, what does this mean for me & is 1,300 calorie intake a good starting point for weight loss?
I've already lost 6 lbs. but I mainly wish to lose the belly fat. (could be cortisol problem--from stress?)
I want some second opinions. I'm 5'6", 137 lbs right now.
I think my goal weight is closer to 130-ish, on the lower end.

  • Ive heard cardio and lots of it can burn fat. But in the mean time try strenth training.
  • not knowing anything as far as how active you are :job, kids, school, etc

how many calories a day do you exercise? As long as you get atleast 500-1000 deficit each day.

do you eat white bread, white rice, white tortillas, white potatoes: basically any kind of white carb try getting rid of for a few months. Try something like insanity which ive heard really gets your core into shape.
    zumba

you will have to work harder at exercising then someone like me that ia 86 pounds heavier then you.

Make sure you drink plenty of water.

If you drink soda or tea try cutting them out for while and see what happens.

Limit you sugar.Basically try eating clean as much as possible.
  • I bought a body media arm band and I know in 24 hour period including sleep, job ,exercise, etc I burned most of the time 2500-2800 each day.

I try to keep my cals 1200-1600. Some days I may go over and under.

been loosing weight since july 22 and already lost a slow but steady loss of 15-17 pounds plus inches.

I'm unemployed, I try and go for dog walks & do cardio...
(stair climber and eliptical, typically 30mins.)
    Strength training is like more of an every other day thing;
    if I'm not sore--couple times a week on arms/legs/abs.

MFP calculates it with a reduction for your daily activities in it. So the MFP is usually on the lower side. The BMR calculators online do not have built in reductions, generally, so that is going to be on the high side.

Personally, I would start closer to the low end. If you are losing with your calorie goal being around 1400 then stick with it. It's likely you that if you get fit enough, you will hit a plateau and possibly have to raise your caloric intake. But for now...do what works as long as you are doing it healthy. If it were me, I'd start around 1400 if that was working.
