I just cut back how much I eat of it, but I eat candy/dessert every day.
A lot of times I find that all I really want is a taste of it, then I'm happy, so that is what I try first and if I want more and have calories, I eat it.0 -
i eat fruit, i would never cut out sugar. or do u just mean processed sugar?0
-
Nope, anything in moderation works for me0
-
I did not stop completely but I had to be careful about choosing my opportunities. I lost about 25 pounds since April and I had about 4-5 times where I really went "off" the sugar wagon. I also eat fruit which has sugar, but it also has fiber.
I have to be very careful because sugar is my #1 drug, far above caffeine or alcohol.
I found also that making sure I prevent being starving as much as possible, and keeping the protein and healthy snacks going, focusing on what gives me nutrients, these things all help.
Knowing I will have to log those sweets also "motivates" me.0 -

Lmao feel free to save it hun0 -
I have a huge sweet tooth and I didn't cut it out. I buy skinny cow candy/ice cream or those individual ice cream cups with wooden spoons. 90 cal fiber one brownies...stuff like that. I pick things that are individually wrapped then I allow myself 1 a night! I don't binge that way and I fulfill my craving. I also save 150 cal of my day for this. Works fine for me!0

I just cannot... I am over on my sugar macro every day (I don't track it online, but it shows up on my iPad app) even though I stay within my calories.
I guess I should try to improve on this, but my daily chocolate makes me happy, and I've been successful thus far...0 -
I've cut back loads but I still leave enough cals to have a choccie treat every day - I sometimes feel guilty about that but I know if I were to deny myself then I'd end up going off the rails entirely! like someone else said, a little taste of it satisfies me0

I'm in this boat too. Gotta have something sweet after lunch (I'm more about post-lunch dessert than post-dinner). I spent a 3 day weekend added sugar-free (only fruits/veggies) and while it was extremely difficult for the first 24-36 hours, it did kill my sugar cravings. The only problem was that it was in April and when I got back to work on Monday, I had Easter candy in my desk. I'm planning on doing it again soon, though.0 -
All things in moderation for me.
I eat fruit every day but processed sugar (products) only once a week, if that. One week I bought a chocolate bar and ate a couple pieces over the week but decided not to make that a habit. I can live with the calories but found I craved sweets more by having candy on a regular basis.
Protien is my new best friend.0 -

My mom's doc said she had to lose weight and to cut out sugar (she has a sweet tooth, too), but instead she cut it out except for 1 Snickers bar a week. The pounds fell off.
This was what she determined: If you cut sugar all the way out, your body hits a starvation-type mode and the pounds stick around. If you give yourself that little indulgence, your body knows that you are okay and it will lose the weight.
For me, I think everything in moderation. But I have a sweet tooth also, and my biggest problem is that I binge when there are sugary snacks in the house. I'm a stay-at-home-mom, so it's easy to get carried away because I'm home all the time. I have to just not buy it when grocery shopping, and then I can only eat it as a treat outside of the house.
Good luck to you!0 -
Sugar isn't even on my tracking list for macros..
You can't cut sugar out of your diet entirely, rather I can't.
Eat a fruit, bam there goes your daily sugar count. Sugar, for me, is the least of my worries.
Yes, of course I watch how much sugar is in the food stuff I eat, like cereal, or cookies, or brownies, or muffins.. mm muffins..
But it isn't something I get too crazy about. When I first started losing weight, ya it was a top priority for me but my dietitian kind of looked at me and asked me, "Why? Are you diabetic?" She made it clear that unless there was a medical reason driving my fixation on sugar intake I should probably let it go and focus on other stuff, like getting more calcium, or getting more fiber (wasn't very good at that part at first)0 -

I stopped using processed sugar completely b/c my bf is diabetic so he can't have it. The only thing I allow myself now is occasionally 10-15 pieces of Hot Tomales after lunch. It's only 90-110 calories & is enough to satisfy that "I need something sweet after I eat" craving. Most days I have fruit for my afternoon snack or yogurt & that satisfies.0
-
I lose better when I cut out sweets, but that just seems to be how my body works. I tried it and lost weight faster than ever before. But in general for weight loss, it's more calories in, calories out, and if you eat sweets or not shouldn't matter for most people.0

Wow really!!! I feel like i will b stuck with this weight forever bcoz of my sweettooth0 -
I generally avoid table sugar and use Stevia instead. However, I'll occasionally have some ice cream, a piece of birthday cake, or some chocolate, gum, or candy. I would never want to be that person at a birthday celebration who refuses a piece of cake and scoop of ice cream because of my body recomposition efforts. If I can't get through a kid's birthday party without setting myself back, I figure I may as well just quit life, let alone becoming fit.
Just one person's opinion.0 -

Its all in coming to 2 realizations:
1) there is no food in the civilized world that if you decide you want at a whim, that you can't have. In other words, what is the urgency to eat it? You can get it whenever you want.
2) You are more important than food.0 -

You r right when i stop sugar i also lose weight but my lack of control infront of sugar and diet beverages is killing me0 -
I have just learned portion size. I also learn if I want something really bad I need to work it off. I also will jut walk around the kitchen and stare at the food and say no. My Mom is visting so I don't want her to see my tricks. I draw a circle on the bag of my kids snack then draw a line thru it and put M on it. I still allow my kids some of their favorites but in small servings. They are eating fresh vegetable and fruit. We are sharing apples, carrot sticks, celery. I do like Ice Cream sometimes but have looked at some lower calorie Ice Cream but not sugar free and go by the serving size. Actually that amount is a nice side. I do allow myself some Dairy Whip Cream 20 calories and a cherry which is also low in calories. I don't do this often but it is a treat I like. Also I will earn it as well work the calories off. I do crave less. It does get easier the less you eat of it over a period of time you don't crave it. Like I get excited over eating hummus with carrots or an apple. Who would think 2 weeks ago I would do that? Good luck hope this helps.0
