I'm not a huge cooked oatmeal fan... but it is so good for you I'm trying to make myself eat more of it... for the cooked version... I add a little unsweetened cocoa powder, truvia, and mint leaves.

I'll also make no bake healthy cookies with it.... sounds really gross but I like it, surprisingly, blend 3 cups of lima beans, 1 cup of steel cut oats, vanilla, cocoa powder, truvia and mint to taste... a little almond milk to thin it out.

    Apple-cranberry oatmeal

I found this on food.com but is a weight watcher recipe.

No cook oatmeal in a cup

    1/4 cup old fashioned oats
1/2 cup almond milk or skim
1/2 banana sliced or any other fruit(mixed berries, raisins, nuts)
sweetener of choice I like Stevia and Splend brown sugar
    1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Put 1/2 oats in cup then fruit then balance of oats.
Mix together milk, sweetener and cinnamon, mix well. Pour
over oats and put in fridge ready next morning. I personally
like it warm so 1 1/2 minutes in microwave.

I was very skeptical of raw oatmeal but it is my breakfast of choice.
You can add so many things you like to make it your own.
  • PROTMEAL:
    3/4-1 Cup Oats
    3/4-1 Cup Water

Mix thoroughly in microwave safe bowl heat up for 2 minutes let stand 1 minute

1/2-1 Scoop Whey Protein Powder (chocolate seems the best)

Mix into cooked oats and stir throughly.

    ENJOY :)

I like the Quaker Weight Control Maple and Brown Sugar. It is instant and you heat it for 2 minutes in the microwave. It has 160 cals, 3 fat and 4 sugar and 6 fiber. Some people avoid instant oatmeal but it doesn't bother me or stall weight loss. I just don't have time to mix several ingredients i like to open the pack and heat and eat =) You can buy all kinds with fruit also and cinnamon bun. They are all yummy!

I'm pretty sure I put my recipe for "Po' Man's Baked Oatmeal" into the recipe database on here, but just in case that's not working:

    1/2 cup (dry) instant oats
    1 large egg
    1/2 medium-large banana
    1 tbsp honey
    1 tsp cinnamon

Mash the half a banana. Mix all ingredients in a largish microwavable bowl (~4 cup capacity). Make sure they're all thoroughly mixed and microwave for about two minutes on high. Wash your spoon (salmonella is nobody's friend!) and dig in! This comes out very thick, solid, and almost cake-like, so if you're one of those weirdos who likes their oatmeal soupy, you won't like this.

1 cup of cooked steel cut oats
    1 poached egg
1 wedge light laughing cow cheese
    salt and pepper to taste

I cook 2 cups of uncooked oats on a Sunday and it gives me breakfast all week. They reheat well in the microwave and don't get sticky or mushy. For the egg, I cook it in the microwave (in a coffee mug with a little water) when I get to work. This always keeps me full until lunch and is super easy!

    I love oatmeal for breakfast.
I mix: 1/2 cup Quaker quick oats - 1 cup hot water - 1 teaspoon cinnamon - mix it all together then I add some walnuts and a spoonful of Polaner or Smuckers sugar free jam. So delish !! Sometimes instead of the jam I add fresh apples or peaches. You may want to add a bit of sweetner if you use fresh fruit.
    Enjoy

Grate 1 apple, juice 1 orange, add some oats and a bit of yoghurt and mix together so that the oats are well covered. Store in fridge overnight, give it a stir in the morning and off you go.

I'd make this for 2 breakfasts, using a small apple and a small orange, and about 60g each of oats and yoghurt. You want the mix to be just wet enough for the oats to soak up the liquid overnight.

Makes a really nice change from milky/watery hot porridge.

Add a half tsp of vanilla, a little bit of brown sugar. Cinnamon and an apple.

Or Vanilla, brown sugar and berries.

Make it with skim milk, or soy or almond milk (whatever you use) for it to be creamy!
  • I tell you what,, the consistency might get to you,, but the recipes on pinterest.com for Refridgerated Oatmeal's are pretty dang tasty.

I do different toppings. Dried cranberries and almonds. Apple sauce with cinnimon or just bananas is good. Add a little almond milk and stevia.

I'm in love with this one lately:

    1/4 cup rolled oats
    1tbs.peanut butter
    1 banana
    1tsp. cocoa powder
    H2O
In micro for a min. and ready to go. Sometimes I add dries cranberries or raisins or nuts.

If you don't like your oat cooked you can leave them in fridge over night with water or milk.

I prefer steel cut oats over other kinds of oatmeal. If you're getting bored with the texture of rolled oats, you can try those. You should also try some savory items in your oatmeal. My favorite is green onions and soy sauce. It sounds a little gross, but it's actually very good. If your diet allows, you can also put a little bit of butter or sesame oil as well. Sauteed mushrooms would also probably be pretty good. I also like roasted tomatoes. I bet a little bit of chopped sausage and a poached egg on top would be really good.

If you like sweeter options, put greek yogurt and fresh fruit (like berries) on top. You could also try slicing some banana in with it, or ripe peaches. It's getting to fall, so you can cook some apples (in a frying pan with a tiny bit of water so they soften, and cinnamon and ginger for extra flavors) and mix that in.

I loooove oatmeal! I mix my old fashioned oats with unsweetened vanilla almond milk and then add in peanut butter after it is cooked! So satisfying...such a comfort food for me! I sometimes eat it 2-3 times a day when I just can't help myself. It's just THAT good. :))
