Truvia (Stevia) vs Silverspoon Half Spoon Sugar

Hey there, I have a simple question (I hope).

I need to cut down a little on my sugar intake and I've been using Silverspoon Half Spoon Sugar (http://www.silverspoon.co.uk/home/products/low-calorie-sugars-and-sweeteners/half-spoon-granulated-sugar) instead of normal granulated sugar for around 6 months but I believe that Truvia (Stevia) (http://truvia.co.uk/about/) could be a better alternative for me.

Would I be right in thinking that Truvia is the way to go?

  • Not sure yet. I just bought some to replace Sweet Leaf. I'll try to remember to let you know, but I'm glad to see someone else is trying it.

Just keep in mind that Truvia/Stevia has a very different taste. There are some things that I find it works well for, such as sweetening my coffee, but I don't like the taste in other recipes that call for sugar, even if I use less. It's very overpowering and it's simply a different kind of sweetness. Your mileage may vary.

Indeed, it's very "sweetener" like. I had a teeny tiny but with my cereals this morning and it was OK.
