Dieter's nude self-portraits

Options
A very powerful article.

(Some nude/semi-nude pictures included. Probably NSFW, but certainly not 'crude' or 'pornographic' in any way)

A woman who weighed 338lbs and was terrified of both cameras and her 'morbidly obese' title, decided to face her insecurities head on, chronicling the loss of half her body weight in a series of self-portraits.
Artist Julia Kozerski, 28, who lost 160lbs over one year, faces mirrors, scales, and a refrigerator stocked with food while completely naked in an attempt to show how dramatic weight loss really effects the everyday woman.
Her raw self-portraits, a series titled Half, 'serve as reflections of my experience and address and explore my physically and emotionally painful, private struggles with food, obsession, self-control, and self-image.'

I find this incredible. People struggle with weight for various reasons. Losing weight can be (and is) emotional for many, many people. For some it's like shedding a shell that they've been hiding in for years. When it's time to come out...it's scary. You have to face the things you were hiding from. As the body goes through changes so does the mind. I read some of the comments and people can be cruel (this I already know). The comments about her pictures being gross or maybe she shouldn't have gotten so fat in the first place. Really? Let's celebrate overcoming.

I just saw it too. It's amazing and I have questions. Very courageous. Did the weight come off too fast? Would slower weight loss have been better? I truly dont know. I guess it depends on where she goes from here.
