the gym is the only place where i can lift 100lb dbs...

I prefer home workout as it costs less and I've got weight bench, weights, chin up bar and running the streets is less boring then on a tredmil. Only downside is not having a partner to spur me on, but I've got a good routine

That's true, but I'm not home that often apart from sleep and working out, spend most of my time visiting friends or going somewhere

    id prefer home!
  • Home works better for me. I have no excuse not to work out! With a gym I always seem to find some reason why i would rather stay home!

as if people go to the gym to look at what others are doing... and if they do then that's very sad.

I like both, it gives me options. The more options the better. But I have an inexpensive small town gym I belong to that's better than any big gyms I've seen in the big cities so I'm lucky. I also have access to a gym at the office I work at which is further away. Options are nice for when I need to be flexible with my schedule.

I loved the gym, until I had to cut back on my finances and it had to go. So I started hitting the road and dusted of my old workout DVD's I ordered but never stuck to the program. Now I love to be outdoors and just creative. I switch out the DVD's daily and either run or walk new routes :0)

Ive got everything I need right in my own apartment...bench, squat rack, 450 pounds of freeweights plus dumbell's and I dont have to wait to use any of it, lol. I love working out at home...cant stand crowded gyms or waiting for the guy doing 65pound barbell curls taking up the squat rack to do them.

Gym! It is a super motivator when everyone around you is working hard too. Also, I love instructor led classes...they don't let me slack!

I am in the same boat. My motivation to go faster on the treadmill is my 10 pound poodle nipping at my heals!!!
  • Home.
With a small child, a husband thats up and gone by 5am, and a full time job myself - it's hard to justify being out of the house more than I already am.

I prefer working out at home. I have an elliptical, a treadmill, resistance bands and weights. I rather do it at home because I feel more comfortable when I am cursing everyone and their mother because of the burn :)

HOME!! It is easier to get it in instead of driving 15 min and back to the gym....with a full time job and kids, I don't have time to get to the gym. I can workout at home when everyone else is still sleeping or while they are playing......and you can't get Shaun T at the gym!!! LOL!!
  • Home. I feel like I get in a better workout at home because I can go all out and get nasty sweaty without worrying about what other people think. I hate the gym, but I make myself go twice a week.

For me, I prefer the gym, largely because it's a mental thing -- if I'm at the gym, I'm there to work out and that's it. If I'm at home, it is WAAAAY too easy to get sidetracked on other things, the phone ringing, getting interrupted, etc.

I like the energy of the gym but when press for time workout at home.
  • Home! I have a great gym in my garage. One bay is fully framed in with a padded floor and all the equipment I need. Adjustable bench with cage, lat tower with all the attachments, olympic bar, curl bar, 400+ lbs of plates, d. bells, flat bench and 3 nice pieces of cardio. I have an iPod docking station for the weight area and a surround sound system with DVD and tv with cable for the cardio area. It's completely painted and decorated the way I like it; mostly Marine Corps, firefighter and cop memorabilia.

No waiting for equipment, no nasty sweat (that isn't mine) to wipe off, and best of all, if I want someones opinion, I can come here or check the net.

It cost me about what 3-4 years worth of club memeberships would cost and it's all paid for; no monthly dues. All I do is walk 20 feet to my garage, slide the pocket door open, turn on my music and have at it. It's a great place to be!
