Slipping up as the months go by

I'm getting really disguraged over here. In January and February I had lost 5 pounds, March and April, another 4, May, another 2. In June we moved into a new house and my whole routine was disrupted for almost a full month, but I maintained (probably because I was running up and down 2 flights of stairs several times a day). July I gained a pound. Lots and lots of birthdays, house warmings, 4th of July etc. August I gained another pound. September has proven the same....gaining about 1.5 more pounds.
I hit my "DANGER" number on the scale a few weeks ago and started working a lot more cardio into my daily activities. Last week I was on the treadmill or walking around the neighborhood 6 days a week, and when I got on the scale this morning, it went up again (like I reallllllllllly needed that).
I'm fully aware that I'm eating more than I need to be, but I also just started adding in whatever type of workout I can fit into my day, like the treadmill on an incline, abs, free weights (5 pounds), jumping jacks....whatever brings on the sweat, even if it's just a little.
Just a little bummed.

Nutrition is key to losing or maintaining weight loss. You can do it! You can lose again!!! You have done it before so there is no reason why you can't do it now. Don't worry yourself with how you have been doing in the last few months just focus on today and what you will do in the future! I have a motivational group on FB if you need some more support and motivation. Just send me a friend request at facebook.com/monica.walls3 and I will add you to the group.0

Thank you, that's sweet!
The worst part of over-eating and gaining is knowing you are over-eating and gaining.
I have been eating well, just eating too much. It's the story of my life (I'm sure for a lot of people). Everyone has their "cheat" snacks or days, or whatever, but for the most part I do eat well.
I remember when I lost all my weight I was trying to stay at or below 1500 calories a day, and was either walking or using the stationary bike for an hour 3-4 days a week.
Now, before working out, I am usually eating around 1750 calories, then after working out, my net is around 1500. So, I guess I need to figure out how to cut about 250-300 calories from my diet a day, plus still get my cardio in, and not feel hungry, because right now, every 3 hours my stomach is growling and I hate that!0 -
Every little bit of activity helps! You may want to consider having your lifestyle set as "Sedentary" if it isn't already. I like that because then I can add in all the little things, like walking to the store, going up and down the apartment building stairs four times a day, or cleaning the garage. For me, it keeps everything in perspective when I can see it written down. I actually preordered my FitBit Zip ($60) the other day to help me track calories burned and to find a better calorie goal.
Interval training on the treadmill will also be more effective than solely using a 7% grade. Start out warming up, then change to a sharp incline for a few minutes, then bring it back down. Changing your heart rate will burn more fat stores and make the most of your workout.0 -
I do change it up on the treadmill. I start at 3.5 to warm up, then go to a 2% incline and hit 4.0, then a 3% incline, then back down to 0, and 4.5 speed, then back up to 2 etc.
I could change it more though and see how things go
I just feel like even with all the wonderful resources I have, I'm ruining all this hard work I put in earlier this year to meet my goals. Grrr.0 -
Actually had a night where I stayed right at 1500 calories! The scale is just not moving though. I'm not looking for a quick fix, but it seems like I should be maintaining, not gaining...with the calories I do consume (even on a bad day) because of the cardio and other little exercises I'm getting in. Just weird. Maybe my body is changing or something? Who knows!0
