So I am completely new to Jillian Michaels DVDs, but I know people swear by them.
Which one is the best for a relative beginner, and is there anyway to know the general calories I'm losing by doing them if I don't have a HRM?

Jillian's DVDs are great! I would start with 30 Day Shred. . . you can follow the beginner or advanced person on the screen. Its hard and you will sweat but its not impossible. Don't expect to lose a ton of weight but you will drop inches. . . your clothes will fit better.
I did it and am now wearing clothes 2 sizes smaller despite a very low weightloss during the time I was doing it.
I didn't love Ripped in 30 and now I'm waiting for delivery of her new Body Revolution DVD set. . will start on 10/1 and be done for the new year. . hopefully looking the best I've ever looked!
Good luck! Feel free to friend me if you want!0 -
She has a For Beginners - Frontside/Backside Combo (http://www.amazon.com/Jillian-Michaels-Beginners-Frontside-Backside/dp/B0062US5RW) that I've never tried, but I'd go with 30 Day Shred (http://www.amazon.com/Jillian-Michaels-30-Day-Shred/dp/B00127RAJY) or Ripped in 30 (http://www.amazon.com/Jillian-Michaels-Ripped-30/dp/B004CRR9IS) and begin with Level One. As far as counting your calories burned, I'd go with the MFP Circuit Training entry.0
