Arguing with Myself on Cals and Exercise

Well, this conversation got pointed in a hurry. Try not:happy: to take everyone's comments personally, They're attempting to help you based upon the information that you've shared. They have struggled just as well as you. You are not alone. That being said, your body has a rhythm and there are things it can and can't do. Some people can poop out 2 lbs in a go, some people can't. Like mentioned earlier, this is a 50-year plan, not a 10-week plan. Relax. If you keep at it, one step at a time it will come. Don't starve yourself, and definitely try to enjoy the journey, that what its all about anyway. I hope you acheive all of your goals, just don't beat yourself up. Make sure you're drinking plenty of water, getting enough sleep, and hit your calories. I have experienced plateaus, given up, binged and voila, 2 more pounds drop. My body was telling me that there wasn't enough intake to allow for a drop in reserves. I was pushing too hard, too quick. Now, i just stick to the plan and slowly, but surely it works. Some weeks .5 lb, some weeks 3 lbs. Still on that journey. I restart every morning. No regrets... Good luck.0

And if you all are frustrated with me, then LEAVE. You are not contractually obligated to type a response.0

If you only eat 900 cal a day you dont work out, your body will go into starvation mode and it will not allow you to lose weight.. You need to eat atleast 1200 a day, and that could also be the reason of the lack of energy. I know when i am super busy and forget to eat i lose energy fast. Ive done it for days without realizing it (when you have 3 kids and a husband to take care of food is last on your mind) Since your at the last part of your weight loss and only 10lbs to go those are the hardest and if you stress your body too much you wont lose a thing. Then when you lose the weight do you plan on upping your calories from the 900 on non work out days? If you do I can almost garentee you will gain some of the weight back because its such a low number.0

Gee, since you were this same weight a month ago, eating the same amount of calories and doing the same amount of calories for exercise and everything was fine, that must mean there's something different wrong here now. Like maybe you're sick, maybe you're anemic, maybe you're going through a detox phase from the junk food/sugar. Are you drinking enough water? Are you overdoing the caffeine? Are you taking a multivitamin?0

I want to hear the following, "Gee, since you were this same weight a month ago, eating the same amount of calories and doing the same amount of calories for exercise and everything was fine, that must mean there's something different wrong here now. Not, "You can't lose weight quickly, even though that's what you've done for the past entire year" And by quickly I mean 2 pounds a week...which is perfectly healthy.0 -
The weight comes off slower as you get to your goal. It's hard to accept when "you're almost there", but i have discovered it comes off if you just keep at it and be patient. Remember to accept this as a new way of eating and maintenance is a continuing effort. By the way I am 5'3" and my doc has set 140 lbs as a low limit for me. Make sure with your doc that you really need to lose more weight. It could be why your body is fighting you.0

I'm not talking net calories. The way I do it, is that my net calories would end up being at around 900 on workout days and then just the 1400 on my non-workout day. I know a lot of people follow the net calories, but I never have even since day one. If I ate back all of my workout calories, I'd cry. lol To me, the net calories is something I'd do in maintenance mode, not in weight loss mode.
Also, I just can't accept .5 lbs a week, like it's not even in my realm of mental consideration. lol I would never in 5 billion years have the patience to lose the last 10 pounds in 6 months.
I think I'm on board with californiagir and am just going to have to listen to my body and come with a compromise between what it needs and what I want. MFP tells me my BMR is about 1800.
Sounds like there are some concepts you need to come to terms with.
Either that, or just deal with the side effects as they come.
I'll say it again...

When you're a little more open minded, I'm happy to talk with you about all this. Until then...0 -

Your body changes as you lose weight. Your caloric needs change as you lose weight. And when you get closer to your goal it gets harder. That is a fact. Your diet affects hormones that can make it harder for women to lose weight. When you haven't been giving your body enough fuel, your metabolism slows down. When you are not eating enough long term, you lack energy. Those are the things you should be looking at, not anemia or vitamins.
Nobody in this thread believes that the fix is any of the things you mentioned, that is why nobody said it.0 -
Done with this. Just done.0

I am kind of late to get in this thread. Sounds like everyone try to help with their own knowledge and experience. I agree that each time I do it over, it is harder. That's my own experience. Don't feel offensded.
But sound like you are stall. I used to be in the other weight loss site and this topic disscuss all the time.
Some people advice that if you got stall you can do one or both the following:
1. Up your cals (sounds crazy right?): But since you eat too low that could slow your BMR, up cals might help to boost your BMR and help you lose.
2. Change your work out routine: your muscles get use to what you doing for months, change the routine would confuse them and it wake up and burn.
And stick with it for a while. Sometimes people stall for weeks then all of a sudden they lose again. Each body is difference so be patient.
I hope this help.0 -

You may just have to accept it. An alternative is to start lifting weights... heavy ones... and transforming what your body looks like instead of focusing so much on the scale number.0
