I lived in Eagle Pass for one year, and visited Del Rio very often, I can't help you with what areas to avoid, but you are coming from such a big city that maybe Del Rio may be on the small side for you?

In Eagle Pass night life is almost zero, this is why people from EP cross the border on the weekends to go to night clubs in Piedras Negras, Mexico, and I'm assuming this is the same for Del Rio.

I'm sorry I can't help you that much, I'm just telling you what I saw while living in a city near Del Rio.

    Good Luck.

You're welcome. I hope you find more info :)
  • Del Rio is a sleepy border town. It has a major air force base but not much else. Ciudad Acuna, Mx has the clubs, shops, and great food. My dad is from DelRio/Acuna and I have not been in that area in about 4 years.
