Hi there everyone, I am in Australia so not sure about the weight conversion exactly, but I need to lose between 25-30kg, which is about 50-60 pounds and need some support.

I am 44, a single mum to teenager, work full time and don't really have much time for myself. I've got this fat because I broke up with my husband and ate my feelings. Every night, chocolate, wine, crackers and dip, whatever I could find in the cupboards really... Not good.

I have yo-yoed with my weight for my entire adult life. Been up to 104kg when my daughter was 18 months old, joined Weight Watchers and lost 42kg. Since then I've been down to 60kg and then up, then down, then up and now find myself back at 89kg. It's so upsetting. I hate being this big, it's uncomfortable and now that summer is just around the corner, hot at well. And not HOT in a good way! Barely any of my clothes fit - I'm in a size 16 and I'd much rather be a 12 or my dream to get back to a size 10 again (and be hot in a good way)!

Now I have a new job, and walk to the train for commute every day - so I am walking about 40 minutes every day. If I could stop the night binge I would probably lose a kilo a week without even trying! So that is what I am going to do.

I have registered to start an 8 week challenge on Monday. My daughter took photos of me with the newspaper (not pretty) and I was horrifed to see them. But sometimes a kick in the face is just what is needed - so I am ready to start on Monday!! I'm going to ease into it over the weekend :)

I thought I would find a weight tracker, and then remembered that I had this account from last year (didn't last that long). So here I am again, but I figure this time I will track my food and exercise, blog a few times a week, maybe even every day and see how I go. I need to lose weight - for myself, for my health and for the future of my daughter as well.

Anyway, good luck to all and I would be happy to join a group of 40-somethings with 25+ kg to lose. I'm not sure how the "adding" part works, but happy to add friends if you are like-minded and here for all the right reasons. I figure that we are all here for the greater good and it's easier with support.

Hope you all have a great weekend and I hope to see less of you next time!

I am not losing weight, I am gaining slimness

Hi There - I'm a bit older than you (51) but our loss goals are nearly the same. I started out as a 16, am now wearing a 10, and have 13 kg to go. I started out walking, and have added in weights which has been fantastic. I can tell you that in the past I could not be bothered with a food diary. I thought it was a pain in the a** - but I think I am now a convert. I still have my binges from time to time, but no matter what, I put it in my diary, and start the next day anew. Each day it gets better and better, and I tell you: the results are sooo motivating. Don't kick yourself over your lapses - just keep going forward. It is not going to happen overnight, but it WILL happen. Just stay with it, and try to log in every day. Feel free to request me as a friend, and I wish you the best of luck. Lots of people on here to support you!

  • hi im 29 fom brisbane :) i log everyday and have lost 13kg so far just by being consistant! feel free to add me :)
  • Thank you. I've been here for an hour, looking at the threads, sent a few friend requests. I think that this is EXACTLY what I need. Plus, I can't type and eat at the same time, so it's a perfect thing to do at night!

If you are a single mum, working, in your 40's, with limited social life (actually my job doubles as my social life) and have a plan to become a better you - then please message me and hopefully we can do this together. I also posted on the PCOS thread, I have that too, and sucessfully had an IVF baby 13 years ago.

Good luck to all and thanks for reading.
  • I woke up today thinking about MFP and how this is going to help me stick to goal.

Had a terrific day, under food allowance and all is well. Made a mind map tonight and have stuck it in the living room so I can see it while watching TV (and not binge eating).

Please send a friend request if you think we can help one another reach our goals, thank you everyone for the support so far! Loving the site!!
