Hi all
I am finding it hard to hit my kcal intake on the average day I usually stand about 1100 before exercise but I am usually over on my carbs! I don't eat alot of fish nor meat my main protein comes from chicken or turkey. Any ideas on how I can boost my protein lower my carbs and push up my kcals healthily?
any ideas would be great
thanks

OK so first things first. I'd be remiss if I didn't tell you that you're not eating anywhere near enough servings of fruits and veggies. Especially not enough non-green ones. You gotta have some at every meal (at least try), if you can't then at least have a low sodium V8 with your dinner or something similar. You're very vitamin deficient.
Now, as to the actual calories. Whole grains (but these have carbs, fyi, carbs aren't your enemy),nuts, ahh, avocados...etc., you guessed it on fish, lean meats like chicken breast, turkey breast, some beef cuts (filet's are lower in fat) or 98% fat free ground beef), bison, ahh lets see... chick peas...etc. remember, the goal isn't to be under your calories with MFP, it's to be AT your calories.0 -
If you want ideas for more calories less carbs, try to find "paleo" recipes. NOT saying do the diet (unless you want to, I am...) but there are a TON of great things you can do that don't have a lot of carbs.
My new favorite is spaghetti squash (for spaghetti) and a meat sauce with a LOT of burger (turkey or beef.. just make sure its LEAN). Large amount of calories, very little carbs, and I personally prefer the taste to any kind of noodle.0 -
.,..eat more chicken and turkey?0

greek yogurt have good protein too if you don't like meat too much.... Just don't take it with too much sugar.
Fish....is awesome.
Cottage cheese (i don't like it too but you can mix it in an omelette and boom! you don't see it or taste it lol0 -
Easy, stop eating "lite" and "lo-fat" things0
