Eating Monster

So, here is my dilemma.
On days when I don't exercise I don't have much trouble sticking to my 1,200 calorie budget. However, on days when I exercise I am starving and am an eating monster! I typically eat back all my exerise calories but I could eat a couple hundred more after that!
Why is this? Am I underestimating my calories burned (I know, I need a HRM)? Or am I not drinking enough water on exercise days (8-10 cups)?
Any insight is appreciated.

That was me today too. I walked the dog when I went walking, so I subtracted roughly 13 minutes from my walk time to account for picking up poo x2 and her stopping (I'd keep going and yank her gently) and of course the waiting at the street lights 3x... so maybe I did burn more?0

It happens every that I exercise!!! I don't want to go to bed hungry so I do eat something, but it seems like it is counterproductive if I eat back all my exercise calories and more. Bah.0

I work evenings, but sometimes if I get hungry I'll go take a quick 15 minute walk on my break... but that's not always easy to do when you're the only one workingIt happens every that I exercise!!! I don't want to go to bed hungry so I do eat something, but it seems like it is counterproductive if I eat back all my exercise calories and more. Bah.0

I was like that too after taking a long walk. Was fine after pilates. Eating a protein snack afterwards seems to help me.0

I always load up on protein after a workout but I don't know what I'm doing wrong to feel so hungry on days I exercise!0

Might be that it really is time for a HRM. When I got mine I realized that MFP was very low for my walks with some really big hills. It helped. I split the difference between the two but it was a 200 cal difference between the two.
Of course now I have my new HRM - Polar ft4 - and my knee decides it wants to act up and I am laying off the walks for a week or so.0 -

I might be burning a lot more calories than I realize and need to listen to my body and eat more! I take 1/2 of what my treadmill says as what I burn. I was looking at the Polar FT4 and the Polar FT40 because I definitely need a HRM.
That's too bad about your knee...do you have access to an elliptical?0 -
Oddly, the elliptical is one of the two thing my ortho specifically said to avoid at all costs. The other is lunges. I have a pretty significant length inequality and have to be thoughtful about how I move. It's one of the reasons why I like my mat pilates so much.0
