Can running make your legs twitchy?

I consider myself in good shape (cardio 5-6 times a week for almost 2 years). I decided to add jogging to my routine now, (instead of only dance and the elliptical), but I think it may be making my legs twitchy at night. For instance, I ran last week and of course my legs got all sore. I ran again yesterday afternoon, and while I wasn't sore, my legs felt tight and i woke up at 4am feeling like my legs were jumping around! I do stretch, so I don't know what the problem is!

Sometimes after my long runs, I will deal with what you describe. You could try adding magnesium as a supplement and see if that helps. If you don't have one, invest in a foam roller and try rolling your legs before bed. That has helped me. In general, a foam roller is a runner's best friend!0

Be careful it isn't dehydration, might try drinking some water or even something with some electrolytes.0
