MY STORY.
From 190 pounds, hiding in my own body daily. Eating heavily because at the time, it was the only thing that made me happy. Living miserably and clearly ASKING for some major health issues in the near future. The weight brought on severe sleep apnea, triggered some very severe IBS, and worsened my asthma significantly. Being rejected from friends and family because of my weight, I was miserable! I only had one option and I needed to make the decision QUICK. Probably the hardest journey of my life, so far. Not only physically but mentally. It was time to put my bum into gear!
Simple changes was the way I started, nothing drastic or overwhelming. Stopped eating after 9PM. Limited my fast food to twice a week rather than every day. Cut down on the cake and cookies, ETC. Started walking my dogs daily and taking a horseback riding lesson once a week. Trying to find joy in the beauty of this world rather than food. It was definitely working! Slowly.......... but surely!
Seven months down, 30 pounds lost. Now standing at 5'4 160 pounds. Impatience came knocking at the door. I wanted to be skinny, & I wanted it NOW! So I did something drastic, I stopped eating. (worst decision of my life) I allowed getting skinny NOT GETTING HEALTHY to become my biggest and baddest addiction. At this point my diet included dry cereal, gum, and water. Running the neighborhood for hours in the evening to the point of passing out. Then in the late night hours doing the 3 miles walking video multiple times till I just couldn't do it ANY LONGER. I was again, miserable.
1 year down, standing at 5'4 weighing in at 75 pounds............. That's 115 pounds in one year OR 85 pounds in five short months. It was then, at my darkest moment in life.. I realized it's not about being SKINNY, not at all.. It's about being healthy. It's a lifestyle. It's a journey. It's not easy. There truly is no shortcuts. It's dedication.
After going through the denial stages of my skeleton like body and accepting where I was at and what I needed to; I was on a new adventure, gaining weight.. The right way! From nutrition classes to health & wellness coaches to rehab. It has taken me YEARS to get to where I am now. It has taken time and dedication. Here I am, weighing in at a whopping 110 pounds STILL standing at 5'4 (I think i'm done growing, DANG!) I have never felt healthier in my life. Full of energy, full of joy, full of LIFE, full of happiness. I thank my family, my friends, my Lord, my support groups, & of course ViSalus for helping me get to where I am TODAY.
Today I share my story with others struggling, in hope to inspire and give a new light.

Thanks for sharing, you look great...I sometimes struggle too with thoughts of maybe if I just stopped eating and kept exercising I'd be where I want to be. Then I go back to my usual thinking of "I've always been huge, gross, ugly, I'm always going to be huge gross ugly" then I just eat like crazy its tough to stay on the right path so good for you you should be proud! I'd love to see before and after comparisons!0

Absolutely amazing story!! So incredibly inspiring! It's funny because I just posted on someone elses post about switching my thinking from losing scale weight to clean eating, exercising, and healthy body fat levels. There is a HUGE difference between being skinny (scale weight) and eating as healthy as possible by getting rid of all the processed foods and sugars we overconsume and lifting weights and cardio for heart and health benefits.
Kudos to you for finding that balance!!0 -
The fact that you went from heavy to super skinny and was able to acknowledge that and change your ways to lead a more healthy lifestyle is very impressive. Looks like it paid off! Keep up the good work. Very inspirational.0
