This morning I weighed in and found out I lost 20lbs in a month. I decided to go out and have a beer and slice of pizza and just hang out with friends. I texted one of my friends asking if she wanted to join us. And all I got back from her was, "Pizza and beer? PIZZA? BEER? DO YOU WANT TO GET FAT AGAIN? YOU DON'T NEED THAT S**T!" I was dumbfounded. I've worked very hard for the weight I've lost and felt like I deserved one break out of the 4 months I've been doing this. I'm so mad at her.

A little harsh but, if she is a good friend give her a chance to explain....Good friendships are hard to find....0

Watch some Andy Griffith, should make you feel better0

I had a friend like that and I dropped her like a hot potato! You should tell her that how you're losing weight is none of her business, and neither is your body. You do not need that kind of negativity in your life!0

That was ridiculous, I hope you enjoyed the pizza and beer, you have to celebrate sometimes. Unfortunately the saying misery loves company is usually true, your friend's probably unhappy and wanted to bring you down too! Great job on the 20 pounds!0

She's always been a bad friend, tbh. Before I starting losing weight, she would make fun of me. Like not just fat jokes. She would poke and pinch at my fat. Hit my arms, watch them jiggle and laugh. It's horrible.0

Maybe she just doesn't understand what it is like to have this issue with food that we all have and are finally fighting and overcoming, and how very difficult that really is. Maybe talk to her...maybe she did not mean to insult.0

I'd bet she has some of her own body struggles and she's projecting.0 -
She's jealous. Leave her behind!0

Solid advice. Then, go eat your friend.
Enjoy the pizza and beer!0 -
If it comes in your calorie target for the day or overall for the week, it doesn't matter. Even if you go over for a day, it doesn't matter.
I think what it is, is that people think you have to eat lettuce and tuna and fresh air for a "diet" - they just don't get the whole idea of better choices & exercise on an ongoing basis.
Having said that, it does seem a somewhat inappropriate and unkind sort of comment!!0 -

Eew. Why the hell would you want to go out for pizza and beer with someone like that? :noway:
Celebrate with your real friends. :drinker:
P.S. Good job - go have pizza and beer. You earned it.0 -

Matlock is the best! I wish her were real and still alive so that I could be framed for murder and he could save me!0 -
Maybe she thinks she's helping by encouraging you to eat healthy? What would you say if she called and invited you out to beer and pizza after you had a particular hard week staying on track? Maybe also the poking at your fat was her way to motivate you to lose the weight?
What do I know, if she's so bad drop her, if she's a friend worth having then you need to talk to her not to us.0 -
Very simple.............lose the negative people in your life0

I prefer Andy Hardy. Or Andy Williams. Or Andy Devine.0 -
I'm just going to tell her if she has to stop with the horrible comments, then we can't be friends. It's time I finally start standing up for myself.0
-
Whoa! I'd tell her I just lost 120 lbs...of not so good friend.
Not cool.0 -

It's not about eating healthy. To her, it's all about being 'skinny'. And if she did, I would say I couldn't. I was on my diet. I wouldn't be as mean as her. There is a very big difference of being supportive and just plain mean.0 -
Thanks for all the support, guys! The pizza and beer was GREAT.
And I had a great time going to dinner with my real friends.0 -
Real friends do not see you for what is on the outside, but for what is on the inside. If she could not see past your outward appearance before, then why expect her to see the real you now?0

Why in the world did you keep her as a friend if she treated you like dirt? Anyway, at first I also thought "give her a chance, tell her how her comment hurt you" but you know what? If she's such a bad friend, drop her. Why would you want her around? I'm serious: WHY would you want to be friends with her?
Don't surround yourself with negative / horrible people, they'll only pull you down. Seek out your good friends, and only keep in contact with them.0 -

Because I was in high school when I met her. She was one of the popular girls and even though I didn't want to be one of them, I felt like if I told her off, everything would just explode, ya know? But now that I'm in college and losing my security blanket, I'm more than ready to get rid of her.0 -
