So is anyone prescribed Trazadone or any type of antidepressant or benzodiazapine for
sleep/anxiety? Msg me if you prefer. Would really appreciate being able to discuss sleep problems, meds, and how they affect appetite. I started to write a short novel on the topic but will keep this brief! LOL!

All ZZZQuil is, is Benadryl and Ethyl Alcohol. Not worth paying that much for a shot of tequila and a Benadryl. Unisom is also Benadryl, but at a higher dosage.

As for Trazodone, no, I don't take it. But I work in a place where alot of people do. I can tell you that the best thing you can do in regards to any medication, is talk to your Doctor or Pharmacist. They should be able to give you the entire run-down of what the side effects are.

I'm prescribed Trazadone and have been taking since about the time I began my weight loss, around the first of the year, but it's not working effectively as a sleep medicine. I tried to wean myself off but then my appetite was huge and withdrawal was pretty bad, so I'm back on (yes, I know i should have consulted my dr in the first place before attempting to get off the meds) until I see my dr. I fear that if I don't get off it and find something else that works soon, I may be going to the place where you work where lots of people are prescribed it. LOL, JK! Also I didn't realize it but I think it may have helped me lose the weight, although that's definitely not a reason to stay on it. I've tried Melatonin and OTC sleep meds and none of them work for me long-term. I do have a fear of getting off it and gaining back weight after the progress I've made (aprox 30 lbs in 6 mos).

Magnesium 1 hour before bed can help, works for me anyway.

It's cheap and there are no nasty side-effects either.

Sweet heart, I hope not. I work at a jail. I think things would be pretty dire indeed for you to end up here.

I usually don't have an trouble getting to sleep. STAYING asleep is my problem and it drives me nuts. I wake every 20 minutes on a very bad night. Other better nights its maybe 3 or 4 time during the course of the night. Sometimes I just say forget it and stay up. I wonder if this strange sleep pattern has contributed to my stomach fat.

Best wishes and congrats on your weight loss.

A few years ago I was having a lot of anxiety and nightmares related to some job stress I was having at the time and it was making it really hard to fall asleep, and waking me up a lot - really messing up my sleep schedule. My doctor gave me a sample of something - it was the prescription sleep medication with the phrase, "Your dreams miss you" and in the advertisements there were Abe Lincoln and a talking beaver awaiting you in dream land. Not sure, but I think it was called Rozerem. I took one pill and it was so traumatic I refuse to ever take another sleep aid again. The problem I had with it was that it worked too well I guess. I fell right to sleep, but I was trapped in a hellish nightmare and I was unable to rouse myself out of it. I felt like I was going to suffocate. Apparently, it works well for a lot of people - probably people not suffering from nightmares/night terrors. Don't know if my story was helpful or just another useless anecdote...

Yes, I have no problem getting to sleep but will wake up anywhere from midnight to 4 am and my mind will be completely awake. Sometimes it's due to anxiety, sometimes it's not. Jenilla, that sounds terrible. I was researching different prescription sleep meds a while back and remember reading that one. I'll be sure not to try it! Melatonin used to give me really vivid, weird dreams. My husband can't take it because he says it gives him really vivid and violent dreams.

My doctor got me on Clonazepam to help with my night terrors and anxiety. I don't get that many night terrors but I do have a horrible work schedule and anxiety problem in general so she said that this would help me sleep. I take them before work now cause they don't make me sleepy, help me sleep or anything of the sort. Which can happen to some people.
So now I am on Trazodone which it says helps with vivid nightmares and sleeping issues. Which it does. I am not anxious or scared of my nightmares any more. I just am very very calm and relaxed during them lol
    Weird effect.
I haven't noticed any eating differences. If I get enough sleep and excersize I have a wanting to eat. If I haven't eatten a lot that day or haven't slept that much my body craved more to stay awake. The norm. But I haven't seen any real food changes in my diet.

also another note about the mel. there are certain brands that work really well fo my husband and I and some that give us really weird psycho dreams! I don't know if they are made with different mixes or something but, the ones from Walmart... NOT GOOD. Nature's Pride of Nature's something is the best I found... they come in a bright Orange bottle
